Gears is a browser plug-in that provides local data storage and offline access capabilities. It includes a local database, local file storage, and JavaScript classes and functions. Gears works with Firefox on Windows, Mac, and Linux as well as Internet Explorer on Windows. To use Gears, a script is included that checks for Gears support and redirects if needed.
