This document summarizes a study on offender reentry and the health needs of elderly offenders over age 50. Nearly 2.2 million people are incarcerated in the US, and the elderly population is growing fastest but their needs are understudied. The study aims to evaluate a county reentry program for elderly offenders, identify their unmet health needs, and recommend best practices. It reviews literature on evidence-based reentry practices and proposes assessment tools to measure the program's impact on client and staff satisfaction and health outcomes from different perspectives. The findings could help address health disparities in this vulnerable population and inform resource allocation policies.
