OFCOM is the regulatory body that oversees broadcasting, telecommunications, and postal services in the UK. It handles complaints from consumers about content on TV, radio, internet, phone services, and postal delivery. For example, OFCOM will investigate complaints about racist, sexist, or religiously offensive content on TV programs. It works with broadcasters and producers to address issues and ensures compliance with content regulations. It also handles complaints about poor service from phone and internet providers as well as the postal service. Two examples are described where OFCOM addressed complaints about promotion of a music single during an X Factor program, and comments made by a BBC presenter that were deemed offensive.
