Onchocerca microfilaria can accidentally infect the cornea and conjunctiva of horses, causing an inflammatory kerato-conjunctivitis particularly at the temporal limbus, along with chemosis, hyperemia, lacrimation, and blepharospasm. Treatment aims to control inflammation and eliminate the parasite using local or systemic corticosteroids for conjunctivitis and antibiotics to prevent secondary infections.
