He met with car- tographers from a variety of professions and learned new techniques to create more ef- fective and awesome maps! • Whitley is participating in 2015-16 Leadership Scott County. The first class, on October 2, educated partici- pants on agricultural activities in Scott County and the func- tions of the Cooperative Ex- tension Service. This year’s class project will be beautify- ing Royal Spring Park! Strong Towns Planning staff recently attended the Strong Towns Conference presented by the Kentucky Heritage Council. Strong Towns sup- ports a model of development that allows America’s cities, towns, and neighborhoods to become financially strong and resilient. The main focus of the conference was on incremental develop- ment to build a community resistant to downturns in the economy. Incremental develop- ment, rather than large transformative projects, builds at a smaller scale, proceeding building by building, and block by block within areas with existing infrastructure. This builds value in the community without relying upon large sums of money to be provided by outsiders such as large employers or federal and state government. Incremental de- velopment, along with quality design, allows for development at a rate the community can sustain, while constructing buildings that provide value to the community over the life cycle of the building. Stamping Ground Strategic Plan Meeting Residents met on October 20 at the Stamping Ground Elementary School to review results from the previous community gathering and split into groups to pursue potential projects. _______________________________________________________________________ Don’t Forget Spooktacular! She had previously worked in residential real estate before going back to school. Jillian is very excited to as- sist the Planning Office in the Comprehensive Plan Up- date, and we’re excited to have her!
