6. DO WE NEED A NEW STOVE AT
CRYSTAL LAKE
HAND STICHED WITH LOVE GROUP
SPECIAL MEETING
Since they retired and moved to Florida, they didn’t
know why people had stoves. You know, that thing
in the kitchen that if you turn the knob you can accidentally burn yourself.
Our meeting on Wednesday, October 2nd, should be
very interesting. Hospice has made several changes
over the last few months and due to those changes we
have a new contact person for our group. Our new contact will be attending our October meeting. She will be
speaking to us about the changes and will be giving us
updated info regarding the items that we donate to the
Hospice patients. We have reserved the clubhouse,
from 1:00 to 3:00, for this meeting so we should have a
quiet time while our guest is speaking. We want everyone that is a member of this group, and our other
Wednesday group, to attend this meeting. We will be
able to get answers to all the questions that we have discussed in our prior meetings. Please be there for this
update and a fun time for all.
This couple always had eating out, on their mind.
On Monday, they ate at RUBY TUESDAY. On
Wednesday they ate at FRIDAYS
They were from up north. Her father she called
PAPA JOHN and his best friend was named
MARCO. They would go to work together in the
morning on the SUBWAY, usually the ABC line
and they were at work in TWO MINUTES. Most
of their relatives lived up north, MAINLY NEW
ENGLAND. Up north many of his neighbors grew
their own vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers. One guy had an OLIVE GARDEN that had a
base of rich top soil and BLACKSTONE. He
would jar them and have them all year to munch on.
When someone asked him how the garden was, he
would reply "it's the pits.”
Then they moved to Crystal Lake in Zephyrhills.
She would go to the clubhouse and play CHECKERS or DOMINOES with the ladies while her husband would go golfing hoping to get a HOLE IN
ONE. When he lived up north he was in a band
with his next door neighbor SONNY. The band was
a group of FIVE GUYS. There was no place for
them to practice so they would practice OUTBACK. Hoping the weather wasn’t CHILI. They
practiced in the morning around 6 O’CLOCK,
right after SUNRISE. The first song they learned
was Old McDonald had a farm. Then they got into
more modern music. His wife WENDY would
make them coffee. One of them played the PICCOLO another the LONGHORN. Which was
really a trombone. The singer of the group sounded
like SERGIO Franchi.
So I think you can understand since they retired,
why they don’t need a stove.
Submitted by Tony Pepe.

SHORT NOTE OF THANKS
Thank you all, good friends and neighbors, for the
prayers, cards, food and gifts following my recent
surgery and convalescence. I'm now still getting
over the flu and my incision is still painful -- but so
much less than the daily pain I've endured for more
than a decade!
Your caring thoughtfulness have really brightened
my way!
Take time to laugh & remember to wear your name
tag!!!
With hugs,
:-) Judy Short

9. MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR
Myra and Raleigh Harke
34451 Yellow Perch Dr
We are Myra and Raleigh Harke, originally from the snow belt of Syracuse, NY. We moved to Charlotte
to be near our grown son and daughter-in-law and hopefully future grandchildren. Joining us were our two
adopted special needs children ages two and twelve. The grandchildren we were waiting for are now teenagers. The twelve year old special needs child is now grown and trying it on his own in Charlotte and the
youngest one passed away 6 years ago at age 13. After 52 years with a nest always full of kids (either foster, biological or adopted) we made the decision in May to retire. A long time friendship with Ron and
Doris Short brought us to Zephyrhills and Crystal Lake.
Settling into our new home with our service dog Mattie and becoming acquainted with all of our new
neighbors has kept us busy for the last few months.
We enjoy the amenities in the park, the friendliness of the people, our new church home and a much more
relaxing life style than we had in Charlotte. We are also enjoying all of the wildlife that inhabit our park.
Thank you Crystal Lake folks for your warm welcome.
