This document provides guidance for students on completing an OCR Media AS Level assignment involving planning, producing, and evaluating a music magazine. It outlines requirements and deadlines for submitting planning materials by March 30th and the finished publication by April 3rd. Students are scheduled to do filmed presentations on their magazines on April 20th, with guidelines on an 8 minute presentation plus 2 minutes of Q&A. Planning and Research
Use Slideshare.net (or SCRIBD) to upload any Microsoft Word or Microsoft
Powerpoint files. Images stay intact and the whole document appears as a slide
show.
Ensure you balance your research with plenty of planning, i.e. annotated mockups
and photoshoot plans (for every photo). Photoshoots should use the templates in

Second shoot plan
Upload all photo’s and you can explain which ones you chose and which ones you
edited (and how) later in the production part.
EXTENSION: Explain moodboard in detail, explain the significance/meaning of every
image
Production
Show all images before and after. Explain the editing process and show a couple of
printscreens of Photoshop if possible.
Show photoshop screenshots of your magazine in final development phase
Extension: Brand your blog using the masthead of your magazine (perhaps) e.g.

Evaluation
Will be presented using powerpoint slides, please come prepared and ready to
present on Monday 20th April. Your presentation will be filmed, so that you can
attach these to your blog. Your examiner will mark these so please treat these
seriously.

Publications.
Compare a couple of these magazine publishers/distributors in detail and then select
one to publish and distribute your magazine. Justify in detail.

That is the level of detail for an A-grade candidate, however I would expect far less
text on your slides, and for you to do more talking. Having so much text on your
slides is not good design. Have plenty of visuals(cropped printscreens and full page
printscreens) from your own magazine and other music magazines.

PUBLICATION WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE AND IN EXTREME CASES, LOW
QUALITY WORK WILL NOT BE ENTERED.
Hardcopy work can only be handed to me IN PERSON. Please DO NOT leave with any
member of dept. or in my pigeon hole.
