Observing Differences Mr. Black’s Third Grade Class
What does the word different mean? Different Means: Not alike Examples: A dog is different than a cat.
How do you Observe? Observe Means: to see, watch, or to notice.  When observing you are learning while paying attention to what you are observing.  Example: A student is observing a globe.
Putting It TogetherObserving Differences To observe differences you must. Look at what you are observing. Write down what it looks like: what color it is, how tall it is, what shape is it (round, square, tall, short).	 Write down what it is: animal, plant, toy, ect. You must then do the same for the second thing you are observing. Write down what it looks like: what color it is, how tall it is, what shape is it (round, square, tall, short).
Continued Observing Differences Now you must compare the two things you observed.  Ask your self these questions: Are they the same color? Are they the same shape? Are they the same thing? 4.	Write down how they are different or not alike.  5.	You have now found how two things are different. By observing their differences.
