Obesity is defined as having 20% more weight than others of the same age, sex and height. It is considered a health issue that increases the risk of diseases like cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke which are twice as common in obese individuals compared to those of normal weight. Anorexia is used as a medical term to describe loss of appetite but can occur in many diseases. Anorexia nervosa, however, is a disease characterized by self-induced weight loss accompanied by a distorted body image that can seriously impact a sufferer's health.
