!     Modern life SHOULD allow us is to live longer.


!     There is a global epidemic of obesity and related illnesses like type 2

      diabetes and chronic autoimmune disorders

      !     These health problems have occurred largely because we eat too

            many processed carbohydrates and sugars.

      !     If this trend continues, and we don’t change our eating behaviour,

            there is a strong likehood we will die before our parents.

Calorific intake. Scare yourself!
A small (125ml) glass of champagne = half an avocado
A small (125ml) glass of dry white wine = 2 crêpes/pancakes
A large (175ml) glass of red wine = 1 slice of takeaway pizza
A pint of beer = 1 large portion of cheese
A pub serving of gin & tonic = 1 bowl of fish soup

Background
!   What is Paleo?

   !   Simply put, Paleo is short for Paleolithic and a
      common terminology for a modern healthy
      eating plan.

   !   It is often referred to as the caveman or hunter
      gatherer diet.

   !   It means to eat as our ancestors did.
How we were built
First things first

•  Eating Paleo is NOT a diet in the
  conventional sense of the word
•  It is a sustainable healthy lifestyle
  choice.
So, what the guts?

•    There was a cultural shift from a nomadic life to one where
     groups of people started living together (communal living) and
     began common agricultural practices (farming of grains, wheat
     etc).

•    As a result people started to become sick
     •       The lived a more sedentary lifestyle.
     •       Not hunter gathering any more for diverse food groups
     •       Filling up on nutritional deficit food groups – processed carb’s
      Previously people died mostly due to lack of food resources.
The key to eating well is
ORGANISATION.

economical purchasing
The fittest people don’t have
  the most time, they just
make the most of the time
       they do have.
Common Misconceptions

•  You need to carb load when you are
   training hard.
   •    You don’t.

•  It’s expensive to eat healthier
   •  It need not be.
   •  It just requires forethought and planning.

•    Better skin, hair, nails, bone density.
