To make everything quicker and
easier please only go to the
member of staff that will be
registering you.
Show them your passport and
pick up your student pack.
In the airport.
• When we get to the airport, once we have boarding
passes, and after we have gone through security, you
will need to register with the same member of staff-
this way we will get through to the departure lounge
as quickly as possible.
• You’ll register again at the gate.
Things to remember:
•The Coach leaves CCN front gates on Sunday at
02:00 AM- you need to be here with enough
time to register and load your luggage on the
coach (01:50). The college will not be open.
• Craig’s phone : 07458118613 will be working from 01:30 on
Sun morning.
•Have your passport ON YOU not in your checked
luggage.
•DO NOT have on you, or in your hand
luggage:
•Sharps, including needles, sewing kit, scissors,
tweezers, eyelash curlers, fondue sets,
cutlasses…..
•Liquids, including make-up, greater than
100ml (3.4 ounces).
•Aerosols & flammables (matches/lighter)
•Once on the coach, there will not be the
opportunity to smoke until we reach New York
and have checked into the hotel- get some gum
and patches for the journey.
•Day 4, Staten Island- it will be really cold on the
water.
•Whilst travelling to New York, take some time to
read through your student pack, to get an idea
of the itinerary and what is expected of you each
day.
•Bring a camera/ drawing writing things.
•Tipping- if you feel that you have received good
service please leave a tip at meal times and the
NY coach driver (if everyone tipped just a few
dollars this would be great)
•Warm clothes &
sensible shoes.
Mobile phones
•You’ve already given us your mobile phone
number- make sure this is the one that you are
using in NY
Seats on the plane
• Your seat will be assigned to you- this is usually alphabetically, by
surname, but we have flown before and it seemed almost random.
• Do not just sit in any empty seat- you must sit in the seat you have
been given on your boarding pass. There are other passengers on the
plane as well and if you sit in the wrong seat or swap before we fly
this will only hold up take off.
• Once the plane is in the air and the seatbelt light indicates that it is
fine to move, you can- as long as you have previously agreed- change
seats with someone else in our party (not with another passenger
who is not travelling with us).
• However, if you have any allergies or dietary requirements, you must
stay in the seat you have been given to avoid any confusion when
meals arrive.
• Please ensure that you do what you can to keep disruptions to a
minimum- there will be plenty of people on the flight who need that
time to rest.
This is just for illustration purposes
(we may be on a different plane.)
Dodgy stuff (especially around Times Square)
• People giving you ‘free’ CDs/ books/ flowers…..
• People who say they can make you a famous model/ actor/ singer….
• Spiderman/ Superman/ Mario will expect money in exchange for a
photo with them.
• Keep your valuables close and not in your back pocket of your bag or
jeans.
• Do expect some attitude though!
Courtesy to others on the trip
• To ensure we all have a great time- from the very start- please ensure
you are courteous to everyone on the trip and follow the code of
conduct that you have signed. This is in effect from the moment you
step on the coach.
• If you see another student on the trip who is on their own, please ask
them to join your group. It is written in the code of conduct that you
should be in groups of no less than 3.
• Personal hygiene: you are sharing a room with other people so please
consider them. Also, ensure you are washed and clean on the last day
of travel- we are out all day before boarding the plane- think about
those that will be sitting next to you.
• Baggage allowance
• Hand Luggage: 1 item- One piece of standard baggage no
bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm including the handle,
pockets and wheels and one laptop or handbag no bigger
