TRAVEL CLUB
MEETING
M. Riddell – December 2021
OUR TRIP
 April 15th to April 24th
 Flights not booked yet and could vary by a day either
side.
 Toronto layover possible and if this happens we may
be able to visit an attraction in Toronto – think of ideas
 You are responsible for getting to Saskatoon and
home, so think about carpooling possibilities
Final Fee Dates
 New Travelers can enroll up to Dec. 26, 2021
 All fees need to be paid by Dec. 26th
 If you cancel at this point fees will be:
$199 and $600 before Dec. 26th
$199 and 50% before Feb. 28th
No refund after Mar. 1st
• If COVID surges again and there is a NO travel
advisory in effect, we would postpone another year
with no fees at no cost.
• Olivia Poschenrieder and Cindy Vanderlinde have
travel vouchers that they would like to sell if you have
not paid off your trip already
TO DO LIST
 You need a passport that does not expire before
October 15, 2022.
 Please scan your passport and send to me or bring to
school and I will copy.
 Please check on the website and make sure your
name matches that on your passport exactly, no
abbreviations.
IE: Jenna not Jen
COVID
 You will need to be double vaccinated to fly. May need
a booster but we’ll find out closer to the date of
departure.
 The traveller must have received the last vaccination
dose that is necessary for full vaccination at least 14
days before the date of travel, and the vaccine the
person has received must be among those listed on
the website of the Paul Ehrlich Institute.
Entering Germany
 Upon entering Germany, travelers aged twelve years or
older must hold proof of the following:
• Entry from an area of variant of concern: negative COVID-
19 test result. Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or proof
of recovery from an infection is not sufficient.
• Entry from any other Country or area: a negative COVID-
19 test result, proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or proof
of recovery from an infection.
 This proof must be held prior to entering the country and
must be presented to the airline before departure where
applicable.
Covid Testing
 Closer to the date I will approach public health and
see if we can set up testing for all of us locally
 There may be a cost
 EF will set up testing before we depart from Germany
and there will be a cost
Roommates
 Students and adults need to let me know who their
preferred roommates are as I have to send in a list to
EF Tours.
 Please do this in the next week.
+
Adults room in twin rooms.
Students will room with 3-4 people per
room. There may be double beds
sometimes.
+ Rooming can change with each
hotel, so you may have different
roommates at each hotel.
+ Sometimes you may room with
students from the other group on
our tour.
+ Girls and boys' rooms will be on
different floors. EF rules state that
neither gender should visit the other
genders’ rooms.
+ However, there is usually a lobby
area where you can hangout to play
cards or visit.
Often, we’ll arrive late and leave early,
so basically, rooms are a place to
clean up and sleep.
+ You are an ambassador for our
school, community, province and
country so you need to be:
*Respectful
(there will be other guests in our
hotels)
*Responsible
(follow the guidelines set out by EF
and by the chaperones)
+
There will be nightly curfews (within
reason) and bed checks.
+ Most hotels will have tiny elevators.
They will only hold 2-3 people and
luggage.
+ In some smaller hotels there may
only be stairs. Bring a suitcase you
can carry.
+ Bathrooms will also be small and
usually have a sink, a shower, a
toilet, and a bidet.
+
In the past we’ve also had hair
dryers, so no need to pack one.
+ Usually there are NO alarm clocks
in the rooms so you will need to use
your phones. Set MORE than one
alarm.
+
Lights often require the room key to
turn on.
+
Often you will only get one key, so
you need to coordinate with your
roommates.
+
Most breakfasts will be buffet style
and held in a dining room.
+ Continental breakfasts are not large.
Usually croissants or bread, yogurt,
fruit, and coffee or hot chocolate or
juice.
+ Sometimes there will be vending
machines. However, not always so
it is good to buy some snacks
during the day or pack some
granola bars.
+
Usually, our hotels will have free
Wi-Fi.

 Bringing too much (Remember you will be buying
souvenirs and gifts, which you’ll need space for on the
way home)
 Not bringing emergency items in your carry-on (If your
suitcase goes missing for a day or two can you live
without medication, clean underwear?)
 Packing the wrong items for your destination (Our
weather should be nice (5-18 degrees) but could be
cooler or rainy, so be prepared.)
SUITCASE
 The lighter the better (you can be 50 kilos maximum,
so on the way over try to be less).
 Many suitcases are black so add a bright strap,
luggage tag.
 Wheels and a handle are useful.

OUR TRIP  April 15th to April 24th  Flights not booked yet and could vary by a day either side.  Toronto layover possible and if this happens we may be able to visit an attraction in Toronto – think of ideas  You are responsible for getting to Saskatoon and home, so think about carpooling possibilities
  • 3. Final Fee Dates  New Travelers can enroll up to Dec. 26, 2021  All fees need to be paid by Dec. 26th  If you cancel at this point fees will be: $199 and $600 before Dec. 26th $199 and 50% before Feb. 28th No refund after Mar. 1st
  • 4. • If COVID surges again and there is a NO travel advisory in effect, we would postpone another year with no fees at no cost. • Olivia Poschenrieder and Cindy Vanderlinde have travel vouchers that they would like to sell if you have not paid off your trip already
  • 5. TO DO LIST  You need a passport that does not expire before October 15, 2022.  Please scan your passport and send to me or bring to school and I will copy.  Please check on the website and make sure your name matches that on your passport exactly, no abbreviations. IE: Jenna not Jen
  • 6. COVID  You will need to be double vaccinated to fly. May need a booster but we’ll find out closer to the date of departure.  The traveller must have received the last vaccination dose that is necessary for full vaccination at least 14 days before the date of travel, and the vaccine the person has received must be among those listed on the website of the Paul Ehrlich Institute.
  • 7. Entering Germany  Upon entering Germany, travelers aged twelve years or older must hold proof of the following: • Entry from an area of variant of concern: negative COVID- 19 test result. Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of recovery from an infection is not sufficient. • Entry from any other Country or area: a negative COVID- 19 test result, proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of recovery from an infection.  This proof must be held prior to entering the country and must be presented to the airline before departure where applicable.
  • 8. Covid Testing  Closer to the date I will approach public health and see if we can set up testing for all of us locally  There may be a cost  EF will set up testing before we depart from Germany and there will be a cost
  • 9. Roommates  Students and adults need to let me know who their preferred roommates are as I have to send in a list to EF Tours.  Please do this in the next week.
  • 10. + Adults room in twin rooms.
  • 11. Students will room with 3-4 people per room. There may be double beds sometimes.
  • 12. + Rooming can change with each hotel, so you may have different roommates at each hotel.
  • 13. + Sometimes you may room with students from the other group on our tour.
  • 14. + Girls and boys' rooms will be on different floors. EF rules state that neither gender should visit the other genders’ rooms.
  • 15. + However, there is usually a lobby area where you can hangout to play cards or visit.
  • 16. Often, we’ll arrive late and leave early, so basically, rooms are a place to clean up and sleep.
  • 17. + You are an ambassador for our school, community, province and country so you need to be: *Respectful (there will be other guests in our hotels) *Responsible (follow the guidelines set out by EF and by the chaperones)
  • 18. + There will be nightly curfews (within reason) and bed checks.
  • 19. + Most hotels will have tiny elevators. They will only hold 2-3 people and luggage.
  • 20. + In some smaller hotels there may only be stairs. Bring a suitcase you can carry.
  • 21. + Bathrooms will also be small and usually have a sink, a shower, a toilet, and a bidet.
  • 22. + In the past we’ve also had hair dryers, so no need to pack one.
  • 23. + Usually there are NO alarm clocks in the rooms so you will need to use your phones. Set MORE than one alarm.
  • 24. + Lights often require the room key to turn on.
  • 25. + Often you will only get one key, so you need to coordinate with your roommates.
  • 26. + Most breakfasts will be buffet style and held in a dining room.
  • 27. + Continental breakfasts are not large. Usually croissants or bread, yogurt, fruit, and coffee or hot chocolate or juice.
  • 28. + Sometimes there will be vending machines. However, not always so it is good to buy some snacks during the day or pack some granola bars.
  • 29. + Usually, our hotels will have free Wi-Fi.
