Nurses play a central role in healthcare and were instrumental in helping the author during their surgical residency. When the author first started, they had no accommodations and struggled, but the nurses cared for them by sharing food. A nurse also taught the author how to properly insert IV cannulas by feeling the veins, which helped the author learn an important clinical skill. Nurses provide crucial non-surgical care from basic tasks to complex procedures. Their dedication to patient care and support of doctors is what truly defines treatment and recovery for patients. The author will always be grateful to the nurses who took the time to teach them.
