Observe the patterns and complete the following:

NUMBER PATTERN
Find the sum of Consecutive Numbers:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 = ……….
Solution::
8 + 0 = 8
1 + 7 = 8
2 + 6 = 8 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8
3 + 5 = 8
4 + 0 = 4
Adding them all we can write
4 × 8 + 4= 32 + 4 = 36

A little bug ate 135 flies in 5 days. Each day, it ate 10 more flies
than it did on the previous day. How many flies had the bug eaten
(A) After 3 days? (B) After 4 days?
Solution: Let the number of bugs eaten on 1st day be x
The number of bugs eaten on 2nd day = x+10
The number of bugs eaten on 3rd day = x+10+10 = x+20
The number of bugs eaten on 4th day = x+10+10+10 = x+30
The number of bugs eaten on 5th day = x+10+10+10+10 = x+40
Total bugs eaten = x +(x+10)+ (x+20)+ (x+30)+ (x+40)= 135
5x+ 100=135
5x=135-100
5x=35
x=35÷5=7
So, Bugs eaten after 3 days = 27 bugs
Bugs eaten after 4 days = 37 bugs
