Countable nouns can be counted and take plural forms like dogs, while uncountable nouns cannot be counted and have no plural form, like water or information. Some nouns can be either countable or uncountable depending on whether they refer to individual items or a mass or quantity, for example lemonade can be countable when referring to glasses or uncountable when referring to the drink in general. The words "some" and "any" are used with both countable and uncountable nouns to refer to indefinite amounts, with "some" typically used in affirmative sentences and "any" in negative and interrogative sentences.
