Welcome to this new presentation for our forcoming trip to Windsor to
London in 2016. We will be travelling from historical Windsor to the
busy capitial city of London by river boat on the grey merky River
Thames.
This trip will be orgnaised in April 2016 by Laura And Derek
Day with Emma, Steve, Katie and Tom Oates travelling with
their pet dogs Rosie and Masie.
We will be also visiting the local communities of Henley and
Marlow near to London. We hope you enjoy this presentation
about our trip to Windsor to London by many historical, scenic
and local attractions on the river banks.

4. The River Thames
The River Thames is a merky river that begins near to Berkshire
in England. The river has been through 2 historical moments in
London and history, the Great Fire of London and The Second
World War.
Today, the river is a quiet affair for people to row down the
river at Windsor, Henley or Reading. The river is also a very
dirty one but features in the Oxford VS Cambridge Boat Race
5. Windsor
Windsor will be the starting point of our amazing adventure
journey on the River Thames. This historical town is situated in
Berkshire.
There are many different shops, cafes and walks to look at
especially all the tourists attractions including Frogmore,
Windsor Castle and the city sightseeing Bus.
We will board our river boat from the river in April, this will be the
starting point for our amazing week on the River Thames!.
6. Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is a historical castle in Berkshire Windsor. The castle
dates back to 1070 when William decided to build a historical motte and
bailey castle on a hill overooking the River Thames in Windsor.
Today, the castle is a historical place for visitor to visit. The castle is
one of the Queen royal resdiences where she has lived since the
death of her father George VIII in 1952. The castle also offers vistors
rooms, St George’s Chapel and the museums at Windsor Castle.
7. Frogmore
Frogmore is a historical house in Windsor. This is the location of
where Queen Victoria spent lots of time with her partner Albert
before he died in 1862 in Windsor.
The In thehouse is a historical visitors attraction in Windsor for
the public to see the gardens and house where Queen Victoria
and Albert lived.
The Gardens are wherfe Albert and Victoria are buried in a masouleum
grave where the public can go up too and see it in the summer/autumn
time.
8. Henley Upon Thames
Henley is a little market town on the River Thames near to
London. The town has many different shops to offer when we
come to visit next year.
The historical church of St Mary’s The Virgin is a historical
local point in Henley. This church has been built since the 18th
century to allow people to visit in Henley. The church is still a
church of England so people can go for services on a Sunday.
Henley also has a regatta once a year on the river near to the historical
Henley Bridge.
9. Henley Bridge
Henley Bridge is a attraction in the town of Henley on
Thames. This bridge was built during the 18th-19th
century to provide a excellent and substainable bridge
for the town of Henley
Today the bridge is a attration in Henley for boats to go
through on the River Thames in the town of Henley
10. Henley Church
St Mary’s The Virgin is the parish church in Henley. The
churcb was first built in 1272. The first priest was in
1274 which was 2 years after the church was first built.
Today, the church is a parish church where the town of
Henley come to worshiop every Sunday. It is also a visitors
attraction to see the marvellous and historical stained glass,
font and altar inside the church at Henley
11. Marlow
Marlow is a small town on the banks of the River Thames near to
Henley and Reading. This town is featured at the end of
every Boat Race for Cambridge VS Oxford.
The small market town has lots of different shops,
cafes and a church to visit. There is also a lot of walks
near the bridge of Marlow and The River Thames.
12. Marlow Church
All Saints Church in Marlow is near the high street and
the bridge that goes over the River Thames. The church
has been a historical place of worship for the last 2
centuries in Marlow.
Today the church is a very important place of worship
in the town of Marlow on the River Thames near
London.
13. Supension Bridge
Marlow has a excellent modern suspension bridge that goes over
the River Thames. It is a road/people’s walk bridge in the town
of Marlow near London.
William Terney Clark built a bridge to go across the Thames in
1827, this was the second suspension bridge that he made over
the River Thames. Today the bridge is a historical suspension
bridge in the town of Marlow.
14. Tower of London
The Tower of London is a historical palace in the heart of the
capital city of London. The tower was built in 1070 by William
the Conqueror. This was the year that he had just won the Battle
of Hastings.
The tower became a local point of history for the town of
London as many people went on trial and were excuted infront
of millions of people.
Today the tower is looked after the Historical Palaces of London and a
visitors attraction for people to have a guided tour round the Tower of
London.
15. Kings & Queens executed at the
tower of London
Anne Bolyen was executed in the Tower of
London in 1542
Charles I was executed from the Tower of
London in 1649 after Oliver Crownwell
won the Civil War.
16. Catherine Howard was executed in 1542 at the
Tower of London
Lady Jane Grey was executed in the
Tower of London in 1540
17. London Eye
The London Eye is a spectacular modern wheel in London. It
looks out to the major attractions in London especially
Westminster, Big Ben and The River Thames.
Visitors can book online through the website to get a guided tour
of the Eye or a bird view of London.
In the New Year, the fireworks are presented live from the eye
too!.
18. 02 Arena
The 02 Arena is a big concert building in London. The building
was built in 2000 to support a new stadium for concerts, awards
and artists to showcase their perfomances in dance or music.
Today, the 02 Arena is a big concert arena for new artists to
showcase their act in music or dance. Legends such as Michael
Jackson, Justin Bieber and The Brits and National Television
Awards have grace this stadium.

20. Houses of Parliament
The Houses of Parliament were built in the 16th century after
King James I became king of England.
In 1606, Guy Fawkes tried to block the Houses of Parliament
with gunpowder. He was found guilty by the King and sent to
execution for high treason.
Today, the Houses of Parliament are used for General Elections, the
Government and the bickering of prime Minsters David Cameron, Nick
Clegg and Ed Millband.
21. Big Ben
Big Ben is the main historical clock in the capital city of London.
The bell of Big Ben is called St Stephen’s Bell which rings
every day to tell the time in London.
On New Year’s Eve, the clock strikes midnight and fireworks go off
across the historical capitial city of London.
22. Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey has been on the site since Christmas Day
1070 when William the Conguero became the first king of
England after the Battle of Hastings.
The abbey has been a historical royal building until 1547 when
King Henry VIIII asked if Westminster become a church of
England abbey for London.
Today the abbey is open to the public in London to see the marvellous
gems of historical burials and royal occasions that the abbey has on it’s
daily timetable of events in the church.
23. Events at Westminster
Westminster has had large majestic occasion for the Royal Family
including the historical Royal Wedding of Prince William and
Katherine in 2011 and the funeral of Diana in 1997.
Westminster has also been the place of the Royal Crownings of
each king and Queen during the historical ages including
George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.
24. St Paul’s Cathedral
St Pauls Cathedral is the third to be on the site since the Old
cathedral was blown down by the Great Fire Of London in 1666.
In 1673, Sir Christopher Wren ordered to build a new gothic
cathedral in London. This would have large occasions such as
funerals and historical royal weddings here.
Today the cathedral is opened to the public, in the next couple of slides, I
will present the Crypt, Wispering Gallery and the Dome.
25. St Paul’s Crypt
The Crypt at St Paul’s is a historical place for visitiors to see the
many famous graves of Sir Christopher Wren, The Duke of
Wellington and Lord Nelson.
The crypt was first built after 1723 to house the grave of Wren,
after this the crypt became a historical place of burial for many
who have been brave or fighted for their country.
26. St Paul’s Dome
The dome of St Paul’s Cathedral in London is the most
impressive and famous dome in England. Wren wanted to build
a dome that would ook out to London.
In 1945, the dome was attacked by German guns. Winston
Churchill saved Britian and the cathedral from having the
German Natzi guns burning through the dome of St Paul’s.
27. London’s Bus & Boat
London offers travel on:
City Bus: The bus takes you on a guided tour around the streets
of London. You see a eye birds view of the historical city and the
river.
City Boat: This allows you to go on the River Thames and look
out for historical sites by a audio tour.
28. St James Park
St James Park is a royal and historical local park near to the royal
residences of Buckingham and Kensington Palaces.
The park includes walk for dogs, drinks and a walk near a lake
and bridge. This will be perfect for the dogs when we come to
London next year.
29. Kensington Palace
Kensington Palace is a historical palace in London. The
palace was built in 1699 to accomidate King James I and
Charles II.
Today the palace is still a royal palace owned to Prince
Harry, William and Kate. Visitors are allowed to go
inside and see the majestic rooms and galleries of the
palace. There is also a shop and café for visitors too.
30. Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the royal gem of London. This
palace was built in the late 18th century to allow
Victoria to stay in London at a royal palace.
Since 1901, every royal family have lived and work
at the palace. The palace is also open to visitors
who want to see the Queen’s Rooms or have a
guided tour round the palace.
