YORK - HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
With more than 2000 years of history York is one
of the most interesting places in the UK to visit with Roman, Viking &
Medieval heritage. The walled riverside city has much to see and do and is
the perfect place to explore the rest of Yorkshire with the beautiful
Yorkshire dales to the north. Inside the circuit of 13th century walls there
are numerous narrow streets and in the centre the magnificent York
Minster.

Byland Abbey
This beautiful ruin, set in the shadow of the Hambleton
Hills, was once one of the great northern monasteries. A
truly outstanding example of early Gothic architecture,
Byland inspired the design for the famous York Minster Rose
Window as well as influencing many other religious buildings
throughout Europe. Its splendid collection of medieval floor
tiles still in situ is the largest in Europe.
