2. Welcome to this special presentation about 60 amazing
years of Eurovison. The show has become one of
Europe’s most famous shows.
Eurovision started on 24th May 1956 in Switzerland.
At this time, it was only a small musical compettion
won by Lys Assia.
Today, the contest has become a massive stronghold for
Europe containing nearly 39-40 countries per year. Their
will be a lot more to talk aboutlater in this presentation.
3. Slide 1: popular winners of Eurovision
During the last 60 years, their has been many traditional, colourful and wacky winners
winning the show each year. The show has included winners such as Lordi who won in 2006
for Finland, Brotherhood of Man who won for the Uk during 1974. Previous winners such as
Emeli De Forest and Concheti Wurst have drawn success in the 21’st century.
The most popular and successful winners of the show so far have been ABBA when they won in
Brighton on 6th May 1972 for Sweden. This draw success for ABBA as they became hitmakers over
the world singing Mamma Mia and Waterloo. Other winner Celine Dion became famous for
winning the show in 1980’s, she covered the Titanics soundtrack, My Heart Will Go On. .
4. Slide 2: Historical wins at the show
During the last 60 years, their has been some historical winners who have won
the Eurovision Song Contest. The most famous winners have been Lordi in 2006
with 292 points and the most famous Alex Rybax who won in 2009 with 387
points for Norway.
Abba, Celine Dion, Lulu, Cliff Richard and Brotherhood of Men have had
success fro the show and recorded many songs in the Uk and Europe between
1960 and 1990.
5. Slide 3: Week of Eurovision
During the run up to Eurovision, all the countries are announced by
finals in each of their countries.
In January, the EBU meet to draw the finallists into 2 semi finals and
a final which has been done since 2008. The show is then work up to
the amount of people wanting to go and also to the venue and place
where the show will be hosted each year. After choosing the venue
and place, the EBU also announces the presenters for the 3 shows
each year.
6. Slide 4: The Semi Finals
After all the enteries have been submitted to Eurovision, 20 to 30 countries
participate in 2 semi finals. Between the 2 semi finals, the shows allow
only 17 countries to qualify to the final of Eurovision each year.
In the first semi finals, 10 countries make the final and then in the 2nd
semi final, 10 more countries get through so this make it equal for the
final each year of Eurovision.

Slide 5: Presenters of the show
Over the last 60 years, their has been some flamboyant, funny and
amazing presenters doing Eurovision. The EBU allows 2-3 presenters to
host the show every year. Successful hosts such as Saskia Rovus, Petra
Meade and many others have presented the show for Europe.
During the show, there are many commentators providing funny jokes
over the contest. In previous years, Terry Wogan, Graham Norton, Scott
Mills and Ken Bruce host the duties of providing the commentary for
Eurovison.
8. Slide 6: Eurovision final
On the Saturday of Eurovision week, the grand final is broadcasted LIVE
across Europe. The show has 27 artists competing for the Microphone
trophy. Points are awarded for song by each country by voting through 1-
8 points then 8-12 points on the night.
The winnerfrom last year show opens the final with his or her song
then there is a interval act singing. At the end of the show, the country
that wins represes their song with confetti and fireworks
9. Slide 7: Eurovision Greatest Hits
In 2015, the Eurovision Song Contest hosted a gala concert to
celebrate 60 years of Eurovision. The acts who they had were
Brotherhood of Men, Loreen, Lordi and many other acts.
The show was presented live from the Apollo in London with
Graham Norton and Petra Meade for BBC.
