2. WORK PHILOSOPHY
We create narratives that are
socially engaged and beautifully
shot. At NonAligned, our work is
innovative and humorous, surprising
and nuanced. We strive to create
empathy, and build bridges. But
mostly we tell a good story.

3. BACKGROUND
The NonAligned collective is a diverse group of
filmmakers, photographers and journalists with roots
in five continents and experience working in dozens of
countries. Through photography, video, virtual reality
and radio, NonAligned works in all mediums to bring
back unexpected stories from far flung parts of the world.
With years spent working in countries like Somalia
and Sudan, the team considers these places not just
assignments, but second homes in which they have a
vested interest. NonAligned is partnered with Nuba
Reports, a non-profit organization developing innovative
citizen journalism initiatives which invest in and train
the next generation of African filmmakers.
Working for some of the world’s most respected
news outlets and largest NGOs, the NonAligned
team has covered stories of human tragedy – war and
humanitarian crisis – to those of human triumph.
Ultimately, this is what NonAligned is all about. Telling
the most compelling stories with passion and respect for
the people who live them.

6. LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS
NonAligned has extensive experience in partnering with
local organizations and filmmakers, from productions
in Somalia to bigger initiatives such as Nuba Reports, a
media collective and non-profit based in Sudan’s conflict
zones that has produced a consistent stream of gripping
content through five years of war. Nuba Reports uses a
unique model that brings together skilled international
and Sudanese filmmakers with passionate and committed
local visual journalists. The work is then published in
media like the Guardian, VICE, HBO, PBS, Al Jazeera,
and The New York Times.
As a company we believe that partnering with local
networks is not charity, but the only way to produce
outstanding work.
