2. What is Energy Resources?
Energy is capacity to do work and it is very important for life process.
Energy resource is something that can produce heat , gives power to life ,move objects
or produce electricity.
Types of Energy Resources
Renewable Energy Resources Non-Renewable Energy Resources
3. Non Renewable Energy Resources
Non Renewable energy is energy which are taken from the sources that are
available on the earth in limited quantity and possibilities are that them may
perish in future.
They are not environment friendly and can have serious effect on our health.
They are called non-renewable energy because once they used the can't be
regenerated in short span of time . They exist in the form of fossil fuels,
natural gas, petroleum and coal.
5. Fossil Fuels
Coal ,Petroleum and Natural gas are collectively called fossil fuels because they
are formed by the decomposition of the dead plants and animals that are buried
under the earth million of years ago.
6. How coal is formed
Coal is formed by carbon
,hydrogen , nitrogen , oxygen
and various amount of
sulphur.The dead plants
from the swamps are piled
up with the sand and mud on
top .without water the
carbon increases and forms
a hard black substance
called coal.
Coal is used as a fossil fuel
to produce electricity and
heat.
7. Impact of coal in Environment
Improper burning releases carbon dioxide
Ozone depletion
Global warming and climate change
Mine fires
Impact on land
Impact of mining in air
Mining waste
Impact on water

8. How Oil & Natural gas formed
Oil was formed from plants are called
plankton. when the plankton dies ,It
sinks and buried under the bottom level
of sea and covered by sand and mud.
When these layers get mixed it formed
into hard rock, but if bacteria ate the
plankton it turn into ooze , which is now
oil.
Oil are used for many purpose such as
for vehicles, lighting lamp, factories and
etc.
9. Impact of Oil & Natural gas on environment
Burning produces carbon dioxide which leads to global warming.
Refining petroleum creates air pollution.
Oil spills cause great environmental damage.
Dangerous emissions contribute to climate change.
Oil development ruins pristine landscapes.
Light pollution is impacting wildlife and wilderness
Kerogen - Kerogen is a waxy, insoluble organic substance that forms when
organic shale is buried under several layers of sediment and is heated. If
this kerogen is continually heated, it leads to the slow release of fossil
fuels such as oil and natural gas.
