2. nomad is a transportable pavilion, a piece of urban equipment that can have
different uses: it can serve as a gallery, a temporary store, a meeting place, a
neighborhood communal center. it is an event-type pavilion, where an intense flow
of visitors is easily handled. it is designed to be used primarely during the spring
and summer; there are no sanitary facilities incorporated, so it can have long
working hours only if staff is changed in shorter shifts.
dimensions of nomad are 13 x 2.5 x 3 meters.
gross area is 32.5 m2.
it is not a prefabricated dismountable building, that is transported in pieces and then
mounted on site. it is a monolithic pavilion that can be mounted on a standard truck
trailer, transported in one piece and installed on a selected site in couple of
minutes, using a derrick or a ramp and castors.

construction, main frame
nomad’s main frame is made of steel profiles 100x100x4mm. linear
elements are welded into frames that represent floor, ceiling and wall
carriers. all welded joints are cleaned and polished. entire structure is faired,
polished and covered with two layers of fireproof coating.
roof frame has four hooks welded to the main frame, that can be used for
loading and unloading the pavilion on truck trailer using derrick.
all six frames are connected into a rigid spatial structure. connections are
made with steel plates, anchors and bolts.
mineral insulation, 10cm thickness, is placed in the main frame layer.

construction, envelope
outer shell of nomad is designed with a patchwork motif. mixture of colors
and textures (wood, sheet aluminum, glass) gives it lively, welcoming look
and makes it easy to stand out in any urban environment.
roof, two shorter walls and some segments of main facades are made of
two-layered, white anodized aluminum sheets. inner layer has corrugated
sheet structure that straightens the sheet and makes it more resistant to
mechanical influences and damages. outer, visible layer, is sleek. sheets
are connected with rivets that are also white.
other triangular facade segments are covered with laminated pine slats that
are impregnated, colored in three different tones and varnished. on each
side of the pavilion there are several triangular glass segments. there are
also two glass covered skylights on the roof. skylights are protected with
wooden brisoleils.

construction, interior
interior of low-tech nomad is a basic white box. walls and ceiling are
covered with plasterboards with high acoustic (sound block) performance.
joints are covered with nets, faired and colored with white washable paint.
small pantry (3 m2) is formed on one side of the pavilion. it can be used as a
store room or as a technical room, in the case that infrastructural upgrade of
nomad is needed (power plugs or convectors, routers and modems, etc.).
floor is covered with hardwood decking and varnished.
