This document summarizes an ozone system for water treatment. It discusses that ozone is an unstable but powerful oxidizer that can be generated by exposing oxygen to a high-voltage discharge. When ozone and hydrogen peroxide are used together, they form hydroxyl ions that react quickly with organic compounds. The system was implemented in Spartanburg to address algae blooms that produced high levels of chemicals like MIB. Ozone was chosen as it is effective at removing these due to its strong oxidizing capabilities and is 51 times stronger than chlorine. The system includes an ozone building to generate ozone, a peroxone building to mix ozone and hydrogen peroxide, and injection of this mixture into the water
