•Students in low income schools though are not equipped
with the right ammunition or weapon
•Local and Federal laws are counterproductive to the
enhancement of the education of low income schools.

•No Child Left Behind (TheAct)
•Race to the top (The Race)
•Title I
•Chapter 1011 ofTitle XLVIII
Ranking
•Florida ranks 42nd in per pupil funding and 48th for state
funding
•Florida ranked 44th overall in student achievement
The issue
•The system is set for continual failure not for the upward
progression of schools, especially those in low income
areas.
•No school has met AYP (AdequateYearly Progress)
•If students are learning then this is not a bad thing but
studies have shown that they are not.
Conclusion
•Is Common Core the answer?
•What will happen now that we are at the end of “The
Act”
