2024 for Indian Students.
NMC Approved Medical Colleges Abroad: The National Medical Commission (NMC) is an
Indian regulatory body of 33 members regulating medical education and professionals. It
replaced the Medical Council of India on 25 September 2020. NMC has been constituted by an
act of Parliament known as the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, which came into force
on 25.9.2020 by gazette notification dated 24.9.2020. The Board of Governors, in supersession
of the Medical Council of India, constituted under section 3A of the Indian Medical Council Act,
1956, stands dissolved. NMC’s full form is the National Medical Commission.
The Commission grants recognition of medical qualifications gives accreditation to medical
schools, grants registration to medical practitioners, monitors medical practice and assesses the
medical infrastructure in India.

Establish strategies for maintaining high standards and a high degree of quality in
medical education.
Establish standards for regulating medical institutions, medical researchers, and
medical professionals; Determine the needs in healthcare, including those for
infrastructure and human resources, and create a plan for addressing them.
Promote, coordinate, set policies, and create the rules required to make sure that
Commissions, Autonomous Boards, and State Medical Councils operate effectively;
Ensure coordination among the Autonomous Boards;
Take all measures necessary to ensure that the State Medical Councils adhere to the
guidelines and guidelines established for their successful system under this Act.
