Fourth Dies Natalis: Tasting of Dutch winter dishes
The fourth birthday of NL Chamber was celebrated with a 5-course tasting of typical
Dutch winter dishes at Skopska Crna Gora.
A rich potage of peas is the
first warm meal of the year -
at least for the thousands of
Dutch, participating in the tra-
ditional New Year’s dive into
the Northern Sea or any other
open water in the Netherlands.

NL Chamber dedicated the
celebration of its fourth Dies
Natalis to traditional Dutch
winter dishes, prepared Paul
Houthuijzen. Dressed in an of-
ficial chef’s jacket provided by
HaVeP, Paul served the guests
a 5-course dinner of pea soup,
vegetable stews, captain’s din-
ner, stewed pear and semolina.

General Assembly: new president and board members
At the fifth General Assembly the members will elect a new president and two new
board members.
Due to the early departure of
Wietse Mutters from Mace
donia, the General Assembly
needs to elect a new president
for NL Chamber. Since both
other members of the Board,
Marta Naumovska Grnarova
and Marcel Melles have reached
the end of their second statu-
tory mandate and cannot be
re-elected, also two new board
members have to be chosen.
The Foundation NL Chamber is
to select and propose a candi-
date for president.
candidates
Representatives of the mem-
bers of NL Chamber can stand
up for one of the two board
member positions and inform
the Executive Director of their
motivation in writing including
a biography, no later than two
weeks prior to the General As-
sembly.
There is also one vacancy for
member of the Supervisory
Board, for which the same pro-
cedure applies.
The General Assembly has
been scheduled for Wednesday

Study visit Dutch Fashion Business School
A tradition has started: for the third time a group of Dutch students in fashion business
management came to Macedonia for a study visit.
From 8 to 11 December a group
of 20 students and teachers of
Dutch private fashion business
school TMO visited Macedonia
on a sourcing study tour.
VPTex and MGI
This was already the third such
study tour, which has become
a standard part of the curricu-
lum. Since the beginning the
study tour includes visits to
NL Chamber members VPTex
Macedonia and MGI. VPTex
produces workwear and pro-
tective wear under the brand
HaVeP and is part of Dutch
Royal Van Puijenbroek Textiel.
MGI is a producer of men’s
trousers in Skopje, managed
by a Dutch entrepreneur.

NL Chamber’s Back to Busi-

rainy day. One week later, the

and again some 30 people
came to the green hill behind

The guests were welcomed
with a glass of “oranjebitter”,

by Schermer Wijnkopers.

Several Dutch members choose to give their Dutch clients a bottle of Macedonian wine
for christmas. The christmas package season starts in February with a trade fair.
network
Macedonian wine for christmas
Several of our Dutch members
chose this year to treat their
clients and relations to a bottle
of Macedonian wine for christ-
mas, like Anthura did. It is that
opportunity that can be used
better by Macedonian wineries
- and companies in other sec-
tors as well.
christmas package fair
Although sales have decreased
over the years due to econo
mic crises, the habit of giving
a christmas package to all
employees or key clients is
still commonly known in the
Netherlands. As a niche in the
relational gift business, several
companies are active in com-
posing and selling packages as

from food to thematic
The tradition started early
19th century with farmers who
gave their workers a basket
of food to celebrate christmas
with their families. Later on,
the christmas package became
a common “thank-you” for all
employees, still focussing on
food and drinks for the christ-
mas dinner with the family.
Nowadays, employers look for
alternatives matching the com-
pany’s identity or expressing
certain ideas. Herewith the-
matic packages were intro-
duced, including also non-food
products and gift cards. Com-
panies can also choose to let
their employees compose their

internal to relational gift
Recognizing the promotional
potential of christmas gifts,
companies also started trea
ting their customers and key
relations with presents at
christmas, often calendars,
agendas or bottles of wine.
potential for Macedonia
The importer of Stobi wines
in the Netherlands, Schermer
Wijnkopers, is exhibiting at
the first fair, offering for exam-
ple customized bottles. Univin,
importer of amongst others
Tikves is active in relation-
al presents with customized
wooden boxes with wine.
One step further would be the
introduction of thematic “Taste
of Macedonia” packages. Ha
ving in mind that winter is the
planning period for the sum-
mer holidays, one could even
think of wine and ajvar, com-
bined with less typical food
products from Macedonian
producers, a tourist map and
an entrance ticket to the Dutch
Tourism Fair where Macedonia
is always present.

  • 2. 2 magazine no. 7 / Winter 2016 events Fourth Dies Natalis: Tasting of Dutch winter dishes The fourth birthday of NL Chamber was celebrated with a 5-course tasting of typical Dutch winter dishes at Skopska Crna Gora. A rich potage of peas is the first warm meal of the year - at least for the thousands of Dutch, participating in the tra- ditional New Year’s dive into the Northern Sea or any other open water in the Netherlands. traditional Dutch winter dishes NL Chamber dedicated the celebration of its fourth Dies Natalis to traditional Dutch winter dishes, prepared Paul Houthuijzen. Dressed in an of- ficial chef’s jacket provided by HaVeP, Paul served the guests a 5-course dinner of pea soup, vegetable stews, captain’s din- ner, stewed pear and semolina. Skopska Crna Gora For this event we selected a small, cosy restaurant on the slopes of Skopska Crna Gora, north of Skopje, exact- ly providing that warm winter photo:NLChamber atmosphere, Vila Vesnica. • 3. 3 magazine no. 7 / Winter 2016 photo:NLChamber events Sneak Preview: Marriott Hotel Skopje The Dutch general manager of the brand new Marriott Hotel at Macedonia Square in Skopje will host a “sneak preview” for NL Chamber members. Potential customers as well as potential suppliers are invited to join NL Chamber’s Sneak Preview at Marriott Hotel Skopje. On 3 February Gene ral manager Dirk Vlierboom will guide the group around through the eight floors of this new hotel which is scheduled to open on 30 March. Marriott International Inc. from Bethesda, Maryland, USA operates this hotel with 149 rooms, 15 suits, 10 conference rooms, a fitness centre and an indoor pool on 9 floors. marriott.com/skpmc events General Assembly: new president and board members At the fifth General Assembly the members will elect a new president and two new board members. Due to the early departure of Wietse Mutters from Mace donia, the General Assembly needs to elect a new president for NL Chamber. Since both other members of the Board, Marta Naumovska Grnarova and Marcel Melles have reached the end of their second statu- tory mandate and cannot be re-elected, also two new board members have to be chosen. The Foundation NL Chamber is to select and propose a candi- date for president. candidates Representatives of the mem- bers of NL Chamber can stand up for one of the two board member positions and inform the Executive Director of their motivation in writing including a biography, no later than two weeks prior to the General As- sembly. There is also one vacancy for member of the Supervisory Board, for which the same pro- cedure applies. The General Assembly has been scheduled for Wednesday 30 March 2016. click to read earlier editions! pdf download online reading No. 6: nl.mk/NLC-06 issuu.com/.../nlchamber2015-06 No. 5: nl.mk/NLC-05 issuu.com/.../nlchamber2014-05 No. 4: nl.mk/NLC-04 issuu.com/.../nlchamber2014-04 No. 3: nl.mk/NLC-03 issuu.com/.../nlchamber2013-03 No. 2: nl.mk/NLC-02 issuu.com/.../nlchamber2013-02 No. 1: nl.mk/NLC-01 issuu.com/.../nlchamber2013-01
