Fourth Dies Natalis: Tasting of Dutch winter dishes
The fourth birthday of NL Chamber was celebrated with a 5-course tasting of typical
Dutch winter dishes at Skopska Crna Gora.
A rich potage of peas is the
first warm meal of the year -
at least for the thousands of
Dutch, participating in the tra-

NL Chamber dedicated the
celebration of its fourth Dies
Natalis to traditional Dutch
winter dishes, prepared Paul
Houthuijzen. Dressed in an of-

HaVeP, Paul served the guests
a 5-course dinner of pea soup,
vegetable stews, captain’s din-

Study visit Dutch Fashion Business School
A tradition has started: for the third time a group of Dutch students in fashion business
management came to Macedonia for a study visit.
From 8 to 11 December a group
of 20 students and teachers of
Dutch private fashion business
school TMO visited Macedonia
on a sourcing study tour.
VPTex and MGI
This was already the third such
study tour, which has become
a standard part of the curricu-
lum. Since the beginning the
study tour includes visits to
NL Chamber members VPTex
Macedonia and MGI. VPTex
produces workwear and pro-
tective wear under the brand
HaVeP and is part of Dutch
Royal Van Puijenbroek Textiel.
MGI is a producer of men’s
trousers in Skopje, managed
by a Dutch entrepreneur.

NL Chamber’s Back to Busi-

The guests were welcomed
with a glass of “oranjebitter”,
a sweet Dutch liquor, produced
by Schermer Wijnkopers.

Several Dutch members choose to give their Dutch clients a bottle of Macedonian wine
for christmas. The christmas package season starts in February with a trade fair.

Macedonian wine for christmas
Several of our Dutch members
chose this year to treat their
clients and relations to a bottle
of Macedonian wine for christ-
mas, like Anthura did. It is that
opportunity that can be used
better by Macedonian wineries
- and companies in other sec-
tors as well.
christmas package fair
Although sales have decreased
over the years due to econo
mic crises, the habit of giving
a christmas package to all
employees or key clients is
still commonly known in the
Netherlands. As a niche in the
relational gift business, several
companies are active in com-
posing and selling packages as

from food to thematic
The tradition started early
19th century with farmers who
gave their workers a basket
of food to celebrate christmas
with their families. Later on,
the christmas package became
a common “thank-you” for all
employees, still focussing on
food and drinks for the christ-
mas dinner with the family.
Nowadays, employers look for
alternatives matching the com-
pany’s identity or expressing
certain ideas. Herewith the-
matic packages were intro-
duced, including also non-food
products and gift cards. Com-
panies can also choose to let

internal to relational gift
Recognizing the promotional
potential of christmas gifts,
companies also started trea
ting their customers and key
relations with presents at

agendas or bottles of wine.

in the Netherlands, Schermer
Wijnkopers, is exhibiting at
the first fair, offering for exam-
ple customized bottles. Univin,

al presents with customized
wooden boxes with wine.
One step further would be the
introduction of thematic “Taste
of Macedonia” packages. Ha
ving in mind that winter is the
planning period for the sum-
mer holidays, one could even
think of wine and ajvar, com-
bined with less typical food
products from Macedonian
producers, a tourist map and
an entrance ticket to the Dutch

is always present.
