This week is Honor Society Week which is celebrated annually in November to draw attention to the good work of NHS chapters. The National Honor Society recognizes outstanding middle and high school students for demonstrating excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character. As part of Honor Society Week, NHS students are inviting others to participate in commemorating Veterans Day by creating poems, stories, or songs about veterans to share.

Sara Ann Moremen organized a service learning project called "Cans For Cadets" to collect aluminum cans to recycle in order to raise money to send care packages to troops in Iraq. At first, Sara was overwhelmed by the size of the project, but after discussing plans with her group they were able to organize collection and recycling of cans as well as purchasing and shipping supplies. In total, the group raised $213 through can recycling to support troops overseas. Sara reflected that the project gave her insight into engaging students and communities in meaningful service.

In 7th grade, she participated in a walk around her track to raise money for Dots in Blue Water, a charity she has donated to regularly from her allowance. On the day of the walk, she carried water and tracked the number of laps she completed to earn money for Dots in Blue Water's work purifying water and training locals in Haiti on water sanitation and hygiene practices. If the charity received additional funding, Kaitlyn notes they would use the money to purchase more water purification systems and send more students to Haiti to expand their work.

Kellie Spann organized a 5K FunRun to raise money for homeless veterans as her senior project. She raised $109.31 that was donated to the Veteran Support Organization. In her letter, she explains that her older brother inspired her project by serving in the army and now working to help veterans. She found in her research that over 250,000 veterans experience homelessness each night in the US. While organizing and fundraising did not appeal to her, she still wants to help people in need. However, she found the senior project excessively stressful due to other life decisions like college applications and soccer commitments.

Mr Howie encouraged everyone to keep thinking about how we can each make a difference and praised Alex and Rory for their initiative in organising a Foodbank Easter Egg campaign.
Sport Relief is on Friday 18th March and our P7 Sports Captains demonstrated Out of the Ark's "Step It Up" Sport Relief dance They informed pupils about local Run, Cycle, Swim events next weekend and invited pupils to dress up next week in sports gear or P.E. kit on Friday. land.

like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
