1. Fall is known for being abundant, and this one has proved to be a time of
huge blessings in the Fresh Start-South community. Donations coming in have
funded several different community outreach opportunities like the September 19
sale, which raised money to continue our efforts in South Caldwell High School, all
thanks to the smart shoppers who came out to get a new wardrobe for less!
Some of you may remember the entertainment courtesy of the special
education class from Caldwell Community College during our August sale. The
students are staying involved in different ways this fall, like by passing out flyers to
advertise our September sale as well as our empowerment class.
To prepare for the school year, we hosted several food drives this summer
and ended up collecting so much food that we had enough to donate to other food
banks in the county. Fresh Start-South also gained more support at this Fall’s open
house at South Caldwell High.
The Beta Club at South Caldwell High School has shown great bounds this fall
by manning an information table at the school’s open house to spread the word to
more students, parents, and faculty. This same club has even decided to take on a
newsletter specifically to highlight the strides made monthly in Trinity Treasures
ReSale store, which will be edited, by one of the interns. This will help the students
in their writing and life skills.
As is proving to be the usual with the Caldwell community, more people are
stepping up as the leaves change to assist others who have fallen on hard times.
Food, support, and prayers have all been continued for our family of nine featured
last month, and a homeless student has found a place of comfort with a community
member. Families have come together, and taken one another in as their own, with
one family taking in another. None of this would be possible without the people who
have stepped up for the organization and the community by lending a helping hand,
a spare dollar, or a bit of time to their fellow residents of Caldwell County.
We have a lot to be thankful for here at Fresh Start-South, and so does
Caldwell County. Let’s continue to improve the lives of our fellow Spartans,
community members, friends and family members, and thank you to all of you who
have assisted us so far!
2. A family of nine received a blessing from our donors; they were very
appreciative and said the volunteers were respectful, kind, and caring, and
they were not sure they would have made it through this time without the
support.
