health and the contribution of communities. Remember the NHS will
not be sustainable just because of fancy new delivery models!
• A focus on prevention – we spend more on bariatric surgery than
lifestyle interventions!
• Personalisation – tailored medicine, personal budgeting, self-
management
• Workplace health and carers’ rights within the NHS and beyond
• More encouragement for volunteering
• More simple, effective and long term ways of commissioning voluntary
sector organisations
Technology and Innovation
• Comprehensive transparency of performance data
• An expanding set of NHS accredited health apps
• Fully interoperable electronic health records – every patient with access
to their health record by 2016
