* Improving Fluency - To read fluently, your child must first hear what fluent reading sounds like. One of the best ways to
help your child become a more fluent reader is to read aloud to him or her often and with great expression. Carefully choose
the books you read to your child. Make sure you select a wide variety of genres, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and folk
and fairy tales. Also, read books that will spark your child’s interests and draw him or her into the reading experience.
Word for the Week

* All Classes -
“Do or do not. There is no try.” - Yoda
This is something I expect in my class, and I hope we all follow in life. We should not just try our best. Instead, we should do our
best!
* Music: Discussion question for all classes -
The next time you are listening to music with your family, whether it is in the car or at home, pause and think about what you
hear. What is it you like or not like about the song? Do you agree with the lyrics? Why or why not?
* Science -
If you have traveled and have any pictures of volcanoes, interesting rock formations, or various other landforms that would be
great for a science class, please email them to me so our students can get a more realistic look at what we are studying.
* Religion -
We are in the process of becoming expert Bible Navigators! If you do not have a Bible at home, remember that you can use the
free online Bible at www.usccb.org/nab/bible or www.biblegateway.com (for bibles in different languages).

What is Veterans’ Day?
Veterans’ Day is celebrated on November 11. Before Veterans’ Day this day was known as "Armistice Day," in honor of the
armistice, the Treaty of Versailles, that ended World War I. This treaty was supposed to be "the war to end all wars." After WWII,
in 1954, Armistice Day was replaced by Veterans’ Day. Today we honor all military veterans on November 11. (www.va.gov)
