BUSINESS AND ETHICS DO NOT GO
          TOGETHER
Business Ethics

 To make profit  Represents one’s moral
 To achieve goal values
 Resource maximization  Depicts what is right or
                            what is wrong
                           Consider non-economic
                            behavior

takes the advantage to make his profit.
 After selling his house Mr. A’s company offers him a

Offers loan

                                                  COMPANY
MR. A
                                 Offers S.P. 30
                                 lakhs

        Buy back
                                  MR. B
Is Mr. B a good businessman
or a corrupt minded greedy
fellow?
 In our opinion, business and ethics partially go hand in
hand.

Since business needs to adopt certain strategies and values
to gain more profits at the shoulder of others.

Similarly in our example stated before ,Mr B is a good
businessman, his motive is to make more money and profit.

 Though he is not ethically right , but he is right from the
point of view of a businessman.
 The big players in market like APPLE , represents the example of
how Steve Jobs stole the idea about mechanical mouse from
XEROX labs.

Another example is of how Bill Gates used Macintosh to develop
windows operating system.

There are many companies which if they don’t meet the
government norms and taxation policies they try to manipulate the
companies’ profile to deceive the government.

Next big example is of TATA group of companies, here they cause
SINGUR TATA NANO controversy in which land acquisition
resulted in death of lots of poor farmers
Are all the above stated examples ethically right ??
Answer is NO.

But they are professionally right and this brings us to the
justification of “business and ethics don’t go together”.

Hence ,If your competitor is providing the same product at lower
price, then you have to use innovative ideas which may or may not
be ethically right, to reduce the price and retaining the quality.
To prove oneself and to achieve a long term goal ,one needs to adopt
a practical approach to compromise one’s ethical values.

Our point is not to say that ethics are unimportant but we try to
emphasize on the fact that one should be smart and intelligent to
decide to what extent they should follow ethical values

In today’s era , if one is honest like Raja harishchand, he would more
likely to be called as dumb and stupid rather than a wise person

A person is said to be wise if he takes those decisions that are in favor
of his goal.
