Emerging Trends 2010 - Ontario College Recruiters Boot CampKen Steele
Ken Steele's opening keynote "intelligence briefing" on emerging trends affecting the higher education recruitment landscape. Delivered at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Barrie Ontario, September 2010.
Ken Steele led a group discussion with the "Veteran" recruiters at the Ontario College Recruiters' "Boot Camp" at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Barrie Ontario, September 2010.
The military theme was a little over the top, and Ken emphasized that it was just intended for humorous effect, and to jumpstart conversation. The group concluded with observations that ultimately, colleges and universities are peer institutions seeking the best for students, not competitors who should see each other as "the enemy"...
Slides from the keynote address Ken Steele delivered to the inaugural Canadian PSE Web Conference, at Brock University, May 2010.
Ken presents on Emerging Trends at dozens of conferences and campuses every year. The presentations are continually evolving, based on market research conducted by his firm, Academica Group, and news consolidated in his daily newsbrief, Academica's Top Ten.

"Community as a Retention Tool" was presented by Jamie Kidder and Dr. Kevin Kirk of Community Care College and builds on the concepts of community discussed in the series’ first session, "Integrating New Students Into the Community." During "Community as a Retention Tool," Jamie and Kevin discuss:
Creating a community that creates a well-rounded and balanced scholar
Maintaining the community
The impact of OUR community on THE community

WEBINAR: K12 - How to shape student experiencesQualtrics
Understanding the students whose experiences fuel your school’s purpose isn’t just a good idea – it’s absolutely essential to keep your students thriving.
It is no longer enough to simply track a grade or score as students now make decisions based on their experience. Student feedback gives you insight into what is going on and measuring this alongside what you already know about a student is giving parents, teachers and schools the ability to truly understand a students experience.
The digital age has propelled the feedback process to new heights, both in how a students response is given and received, and how teachers can utilise these discoveries. Where schools used to rely on annual surveys, verbal feedback sessions and paper comment cards to gauge student engagement, digital technology can now help to implement a more omnipresent feedback strategy that not only delivers almost immediate results, but aggregates those results into crucial analytics.
Signal vs. Noise: Moving from Conversation to ConversionHobsons
The internet has become the frontline in the battle to recruit students. While this gives colleges and universities unprecedented access to a broad range of prospects, it also creates an environment where more schools are competing for fewer students. How can your institution rise above the noise?

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

59. Positioning Challenges
Universities are reluctant to stand for
something concrete, focused, specific
They all stand for:
• “academic excellence”
• “student-centred”
• “premier student experience”
• “world-class research”
63. Positioning Challenges
If you try to stand for everything,
you in fact stand for nothing
Successful positioning:
“own a word in the prospect’s mind”
