The document is a storyboard for a music video featuring the band ATWI. It includes computer generated drawings of each band member in their planned shots and outfits. For each band member, the drawings show the planned shot composition and discuss how it will look interesting visually while relating to the member's role in the band. The clothing choices are also described in terms of representing the rock genre and distinguishing each member.

1. STORYBOARD
With the storyboard only showing the beginning of the music video, due to us wanting the music video to made
as we discussed what clips work and which ones don’t. With the hand drawn opening I decided to do some
computer generated drawings of the band in some shots that we had been thinking of using. It was difficult to do
these drawings because I had to get some descriptions of the bands equipment. I spoke to the lead guitarist
Harry White who did some coloured sketches of the guitars that they are going to use. With these I was able to
draw the guitars and with using the social network website, Facebook I was able to find pictures of the band for
drawing them. Doing these were time consuming and I had a couple of problems with drawing the faces of the
band. Although the images do show the clothing that we wanted them to wear and the shots we are going to
use.
Jack
This is the computerised
drawing of the drummer Jack.
We decided to show Jack in a
low angle mid shot, due to it
showing the majority of the
drums and Jack. The effect of
the makes jack look powerful
and hints at how important the
drums are to the song. It could
also symbolise how much of
an important role jack has
within the band.
The clothing that he is wearing
is a convention to the rock
genre. We want jack to wear a
dark blue polo shirt as this would hint at the rock theme and the blue would be alternative to what other rock
bands wear and would show how original ATWI. The grey/black jeans again symbolise the rock genre.
Thomas
This drawing of Thomas the bass player is
based around making an interesting shot.
Tom has been lined up so that his bass
guitar moves towards the bottom right of
the screen making the low angle capture
the audience attention. Also by having a
low mid shot the viewers are able to see a
large amount of tom, thus causing the fans
to become more familiar with the unsigned
band.
The clothing that we have Thomas wear is
unusual to what would be normal for a rock
genre. We decided to have him wear the
light pink top to make him standout due to
being the bassist. However we made him wear skinny jeans that are a convention of a rock band. You Me At Six
are a band that wear similar clothing and we decided to base the clothing for ATWI on this band because of their
similarities.

2. 1
Connor
With these drawings we
were able to discuss
what shots we wanted
and clothes we wanted
Connor to wear.
With shot 1 we were able
to discuss how we were
doing to make it unique.
To start with we decided
that we had to have close
2 ups of Connor, as being
the lead singer means
you are the face of the 3
band. To make it interesting
we used a photography technique know as the Rule of Thirds, this method is simple and effective to use. By
having the object (Conner) closer to a corner than the middle it is able to capture the viewer eye, thus making it
more interesting. To make it unique to the other shots we used the effect Depth of Field, DoF is when the user
focus on a certain point and the items around it are out of focus. On the drawing we did this by blurring the hand
and keeping the face in focus, causing attention to brought to Connor. We didn’t just use these techniques on
just one shot. On drawing 3 we used the Rule of Thirds to make it even more interesting as he swung his
microphone around.
The clothing we had difficulty deciding what colour top we wanted conner to wear, it was suggested to be a light
purple or dark blue. To make the choice easier I drew two image with the different tops 2 and 3. Then as a
group we decided which one we preferred, we finally came to the conclusion of the dark blue top. This one was
chosen as we felt it had more themes of a rock genre than the purple top. We had decided we wanted Connor
to wear blue skinny jeans to keep with the genre.

3. Harry
The drawing to the left is of the rhythm guitarist, harry. We wanted him
to standout as being different to the other guitarist. To do this I painted
a red shirt on him, we decided on the red shirt as it keeps with the rock
conventions yet it has colour that symbolise vibrance and rhythm. Due
to this reason we felt it was an appropriate fit. To get back to the more
traditional themes we decided to have him wear grey skinny jeans.
One thing that we decided to do was have a fully body shot (similar to
the drawing on the left) of members of the band to allow the viewer to
become more familiar with them.
Pete
The drawing on the right is of the second guitarist Pete. We wanted to make a link to the other guitarist, Harry.
To do this we thought of making the link via the shirt clothing. We didn’t want it to be colourful as then it would
take away the intent of having Harry wear red to show he’s the rhythm guitarist. It then came to the conclusion of
giving him a grey shirt as this wont standout and but it will be noticeable we also choose the light blue jeans for
the same reason.
With this shot design we used the Rule of Thirds to make it eye catching. I drew Pete so that his guitar would
point in to the shot, as this would increase the interest.
