11. Vestibular stimulation by modius
Bilateral application of electrical VeNS using a battery-powered vestibular nerve
stimulator (ML 1000, Neurovalence, UK) will be practiced.
 It consists of a headset, electrode pads, and skin swabs.
Power button helps to turn on the device.
The intensity of the stimulation can be controlled manually by the subject using
either the buttons on the device or through the Bluetooth mobile app.
 The electrodes are placed over each mastoid process after cleaning the area with
a swab, and then through a gentle electrical pulse, the vestibular nerves get
stimulated.

17. Human study
The present study was a double-blind randomized controlled trial with 1:1 split between the control
and experimental groups.
 After recording the baseline values, the vestibular nerve stimulation was administered the participants
in the intervention group for 90 days.
 Sham stimulation was administered to the control group for 90 days. Outcome measures were
recorded after 30 days and after 90 days of the intervention in both the groups.
All subjects were put on a daily diet of 1500kCal.
The trial was registered at The Clinical Trials Registry- India (CTRI) with reference number of
CTRI/2019/06/019854.

The mean total body weight loss (TBWL) (%) from baseline of the participants in the control group
on days 30 and 90 days of intervention was +0.4%±2.3% and +0.1%±1.9% and in the participants
of the intervention group is -1.7%±2.8% and -3.6%±3.3%.
Mean Bodyweight in active group baseline value is 70.7 +/- 8.2 and after 90 days is 68.3 +/-
9.2 (P=0.0004)
Mean Body weight in control group baseline value is 65.1 +/- 8.9 and after 90 days is
65.2 +/- 9.0 (P=0.84)
 The day 90 difference in TBWL between both groups was statically significant (p = 0.0006).
