Network mapping can be used to better understand relationships between entities and identify important connections. Mapping relationships visually can reveal network properties, groups, and influential individuals. Examining different scenarios through network analysis may provide strategic insights for communication, change efforts, risk assessment, and more.
This slide-show discusses habit 3 from the series: the 7 habits of highly effective decision makers. It shows how the great decision makers use the power of visualisation to combat complexity, clarify communication and catalyse creativity.
Step 2 / The project “From A to Green: a Future Vision for
Coachworks”, as its name suggests, engages sustainability
and innovation in an effort to provide the
group with a signifi cant step-up on the connection
between Combigroep’s brand image and brand identity
through a product.
The team intends to make a creative exercise by
projecting a future vision that will fi nally inspire a realistic
and infl uential product – an environmentally
friendly and versatile coachwork.
A pioneering approach will be developed through the
analysis of future trends, drivers and forces - far until
2025 - so that this can be refl ected in the opportunities
of a design that can “launch” the Present (2010)
into this direction, while still following constrains and
regulations imposed by a compliant industry.
Network knowledge mapping is a tool for integrating diverse perspectives to find new insights. In this webinar, Steve Wallis & Bernadette Wright of Meaningful Evidence, LLC/ASK MATT show how to create maps using information from collaboration, interviews, and research.

I was invited to give an online guest lecture on emerging web technology. I chose to build on the collective intelligence series I've been working on, so I'll be presenting this LIVE via Google Docs and Skype. This invitation came from an Information Systems instructor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland College Park.

The Connected Republic 2.0: New Possibilities & New Value for the Public Sectortheconnectedrepublic
Written by Paul Johnston and Martin Stewart-Weeks of Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), this 18pp White paper explores the huge opportunities today’s increasingly connected world offers the public sector. The more collaborative and flexible approach now available for ‘getting things done’ provides a platform for empowerment, choice and personalisation, allowing public sector organisations to build a new kind of relationship with citizens.
Does networking really make a difference? The answer is a resounding yes! In a study performed by Partnering Resources, 93% of completely successful change initiatives were led by leaders with very strong or strong personal networks. Not one change initiatives described as less successful was led by a leader with strong or very strong personal networks. Furthermore, a recent study featured in Sloan Management Review showed that high performing project teams had almost twice as many non-core contributors affiliated with the team.
In this highly interactive session, we learned about the science behind networking. We drew on insights from researchers and practitioners in the social sciences and in business to learned about the networking practices of high performers. We dispelled the myth that people who want strong networks should never eat alone and, instead, we learned about the simple actions that significantly contribute to the health of your network. We merged the art and science by mapping individual participants’ networks, identifying gaps, and developing plans for filling those gaps.

Collaborative mapping is the crucial need in any rescue and relief operation. Our recent experience lead us to focus the research on the development of a unique platform [web and mobile] that allows different levels of geolocated information sharing, on a “user permissions” base [anonymus user, registered user level 1, ….]. Our approach is to use the solutions that are free and open [such as Google Maps, Google Earth, Google 3d, Ushahidi, OpenStreetMap, or Android apps for route tracking] and to develop a stable tool through the integration of diverse solutions ensuring a high level of sharing and collaboration among different players.
