Introduction
 .NET Framework is a software framework .
 Developed by Microsoft .
 That runs primarily on Microsoft Windows.
 Microsoft started development of .NET Framework in the
late 1990s.
 Under the name of Next Generation Windows Services
(NGWS).
History
 Each new version of the .NET Framework retains
features from the previous versions and adds new
features.
 The CLR is identified by its own version number.
 The .NET Framework version number is incremented at
each release, although the CLR version is not always
incremented.
