2. SHOT TYPES USED IN OPENING
Opening scene starts with a Close Up of
the main character played as Adam
Deacon. This shots used to show emotions
and reactions.
The Close ups also creates a mystery to the audience because we
wonder why we are seeing close ups of their faces, what has
happened? This shows the director used enigma coding to create
suspense within the opening.
3. More Shot Types
This Shot shows a tracking shot,
where the camera is unstable and
moving side to side, showing a
sense of rushing and can also be
tagged as a POV / Over the
shoulder.
We then see a wide shot which
establishes the scene and we
then see other scenes split up
into different sectors, showing
similar actions (violence) from
different angles.
4. Lighting
The Opening sequence consists of dark
lighting. For example the bright lighting in
the background is used to hide the identity of
the attacker in the opening.
5. More on lighting
More dark lighting during the opening also shows a sense of
threat and also portray danger and action which is about to
happen.
6. Editing
As we look through the opening scenes the
scenes change in a fast pace, we only get a
glimpse of action lasting for no longer than 5
seconds, which creates a mystery to the
audience and curiosity. This causes the
audience to interact and want to find out
more, find out what happened or what is
happening. As the scenes change, there’s a
frequent use of fade to black.
7. Genre sig.
As we watch the opening, we can tell the film
is a Social realism film. This is because of the
way characters have been exposed. For
example, the accent/language, clothing and
objects used e.g. Ambulance. This is
significant because if the characters,
locations, and theme was not accurate, the
film will not be interesting to the audience.
8. Sound/Music
In the first 13 seconds we hear nothing but silence. This
create more suspense, making us the audience want to
know more!
BUT because this film is the 2nd edition out. First there was
KiDULTHOOD and then adULTHOOD, so as we see the
opening scenes we are traced and shown a brief repeat of
what happened before, either to refresh our memory or to
draw attention from new audience. So as we hear sound
which is used from the previous film, we hear sound coming
from character being dragged, we hear pain and violence.
We then hear music being played and shown a party
underneath a highway. It fits in with the precious sequence
because we are shown the last scenes which shows the
last few scenes .
9. Titles
Shown 3 mins into the Opening scene
which is at the end.
The d is different compared to AUDLTHOOD – We don’t know why,
but I think its to show unique and it
also shows a similar text to the first
film KiDULTHOOD
Title shows the Name of the film.
Fades in. As the title is shown, we
hear “grime” music which is an urban,
street genre in music, we also hear
sirens and a female screaming which
implies a threat and also fear,
