Nelson Mandela was a great leader who demanded full citizenship, education, and representation for all South Africans. He never gave up hope and believed education empowered people to take responsibility for their lives. Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for showing that intelligence and compassion create strength, not weakness, and that character matters more than skin color.
