Nellaiappar Temple is one of the famous temples in Tamil Nadu dating back to 700 AD. The temple houses shrines to Shiva and Parvati, and also to Vishnu. It has many architectural features like musical pillars from the 7th century. Important festivals at the temple include Navaratri, Tirukkalyanam, and Arudra Darisanam, which attracts large crowds to see the enactment of Nataraja's cosmic dance. The temple is considered one of the Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in the Tevaram hymns of the 3 Tamil saints.
