Recommendation for Chris Sexton
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Chris Sexton. As the Assistant
Head of School at the Archer School for Girls, I have had many opportunities to see Chris actively
teaching and am continually impressed by the creative approaches he uses to engage his students. He
employs a wide variety of teaching methodologies to motivate his students, this coupled with his
own love of learning and excitement about mathematics and environmental education clearly
embodies the school’s mission of teaching girls the way they learn best.
His classroom management and instructional strategies are particularly effective. In fact, Chris is the
mentor teacher for two of our newer math teachers. He is an excellent resource for teachers who are
having difficulty structuring an optimal learning environment and is always very open to assisting
faculty in any way he can. Chris also provides a superior level of curricular and extracurricular
support to his colleagues; he uses technology extensively in his own geometry and pre-calculus
classrooms and promotes its use school-wide.
Experiential Education at Archer plays a very significant role and Chris has managed to elevate the
department’s profile in the community even more, through a variety of very creative and sound
marketing strategies. The Experiential Education program involves extensive after school, evening,
and weekend commitments. Chris has done an excellent job of supervising the many activities and
events coordinated by the different members in charge of the outings. He has also played an
instrumental role in helping the parents and students achieve an understanding of the level of

2. commitment involved in participating in the programs and the significance of their participation on
the environment.
His excellent rapport with the students in and out of the classroom is obvious. Students often go to
him for advice on academic and social issues. This rapport is invaluable in his role as the school’s
Experiential Education Coordinator. In this capacity, Chris coordinates twenty-five experiential
education outings led by faculty with a budget of twenty thousand dollars. He is exceptionally fiscally
responsible and looks at all expenses with an eye to future expansion of the program and always
with the interests of the students’ growth and safety in mind. His ability to translate the school’s
vision for experiential education and to lead faculty and students with clear direction and feedback
has only increased the level of respect our school community has for him. Chris is by far one of the
most gifted educators and administrators I have had the opportunity to work with.
