Context of mediation?
Mediation is a dynamic, structured, interactive process
where a neutral third party assists disputing parties in
resolving conflict through the use of specialized
communication and negotiation techniques.
Actively participate in the process.
Party centered.
The circumstances that form the setting for an event,
statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully
understood.

Reframe the Mediation.
Maintain the richness of conflict.
Let people be open minded to the conflict.
What is negotiation?
What is persuasive?
Relationship between them?
Dialogue between two parties.
Motive of the dialogue is to overcome an issue.
Important attributes: Respect and trust.
Resolution by- Arbitration, conciliation or mediation.
It is a quality.
Good at persuading someone.
To do or believe something
Through reasoning.
Pitch the week points.
Make an offer.
Negotiation as a weapon.
Persuasion is an umbrella term of influence.
 Persuasion can attempt to influence a person's beliefs,
attitudes, intentions, motivations, or behaviours.
The very nature of negotiation requires both parties to move
closer together to achieve a compromise.
 Persuasion is the process of getting the other side to do
what you want them to do.
Then is negotiation and persuasion same thing?
Answer is NO.
WHY?
Often they are taken as same thing.
Similarities are in goals and outcomes.
But people go for persuasion more often than negotiation.
Robert Beno Cialdini has given 6 principles.

Authority
Consistency
Liking
Consensus
Negotiation a mutual offer
Persuasive is an ability.
Persuasion is one way offer.
Principles of persuasion is a tool for negotiation.
