NCS Fest was held in 2015 to promote young talent, bring color to life, and pledge British values. The event featured musical performances by NCS graduates in front of 500 people, workshops on British values and adulthood, and the symbolic release of balloons with participants' written aspirations. The highlights included accelerated bonding with the NCS brand, increased social mixing giving participants a sense of belonging, and an explosion of social media activity around images from the event.

We believe in empowering young people
and giving them to opportunity to shine
NCS Graduates on our music team got the
opportunity to play in front of 500 people in
a real festival atmosphere
This saw them grow in confidence, and lay
the foundations to develop a real following
over the course of the summer

The young people really bring life &
colour into their communities when they
return to do their social action
We wanted to represent this on the day,
whilst creating a fantastic memory for
the participants
Drawing inspiration from the Indian Holi
festival we created a festival of colour,
really setting the scene for the rest of
the day

7. Pledging British Values
NCS is all about social mixing, and
young people realising that they are
all the same with shared values
To express this we ran workshops with
them on the day on values, and what it
meant to be a young person in
modern Britain
The young people then pledged to
their British values on stage in front of
their peers

8. What Does it Mean to be an Adult
NCS is a rite of passage into
adulthood, and we wanted to
capture what this meant to
participants
We ran workshops on rites of
passage, and what this meant to
them, the best examples then
presented back on stage to their
peers

9. Freeing Aspirations, Hopes &
Dreams
We wanted to show the participants
that anything is possible
Each of them was asked to write
their aspirations onto a piece of
paper
We then symbolically released
these en masse, representing the
fact that anything is possible

11. Highlights
Bonding with the Engage4Life and NCS brands was accelerated
Increased social mixing gave the young people a sense of being
part of a national movement
Participants were inspired to take on even more impressive social
action projects, referring to the festival
There was an explosion of activity around the event on social
media, with images being shared and tagged organically
We managed to collect some fantastic assets, which have been
invaluable in promoting NCS and in our recruitment process
