Blueprint wanted to research what important
causes young adults, ages 18-25 who resided in
the Hudson Valley believed it was important
to use their voices for. The conversation
revealed deep concerns about abandonment
and the lack of local resources to support the
participant's desired lifestyle.

In preparation for the 2016 United States
presidential election, Blueprint partnered with
the Dutchess County Young Democrats, the
Dutchess County Young Republicans and the
League of Women Voters to host Rock the
Vote at the Marriott Pavilion on the campus of
the Culinary Institute of America. The keynote
speaker was County Executive Marcus
Molinaro. The event was a success, resulting in
the registration of about 20 new voters.

In the spring of 2017 Blueprint held a cooking
demonstration and presentation of hospitality
careers in a custom designed pop-up kitchen
in the Dutchess County Youth One Stop
offices in Poughkeepsie, New York. The
students listenened to a brief presentation,
watched a video and had the opportunity to
try out their cooking skills at the omlette bar.

Blueprint is not only passionate about
empowering youth, but we are intentional
about taking advantage of opportunities to
invest in their futures. Poughkeepsie High
School is home to the country's only in-house
Career Action Center. At our Hospitality
Careers presentation each student not only
prepared their own omelette, but took on the
challenge of "air flipping" them like
professional chefs while the audience of their
peers cheered them on.

In the summer of 2017, Blueprint launched its
workforce training program for at-risk
students in the City of Poughkeepsie. The 10-
week course included kitchen safety and
sanitation, food handling and preparation, and
customer service skills. Following the training,
students earned their ServeSafe Food Handler
certificates and were hired in various positions
at local businesses.

Studies show that reading aloud to young
children is not only one of the best activities to
stimulate language and cognitive skills; it also
builds motivation, curiosity, and memory.
Children who help cook at home are more
likely to enjoy fruits and veggies than kids
who don't cook. In partnership with the
Poughkeepsie Public Library, Blueprint
developed a workshop called "Kids Cook from
a Book" to promote reading and healthy eating.

Held at The Marriott Pavilion on the campus
of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde
Park, NY, the Hudson Valley Pastors and
Leaders Conference was birthed in response
to local leaders expressed need for revival,
fellowship, and desire to work together to
mobilize local churches to transform lives
in the community.

15. EVENT: #That's So Pough!: A Celebration of Poughkeepsie Youth Culture

The event focused on identifying local youth
trends and their impact as they pertained to
local music, art, and fashion, with the objective
of celebrating all that is "so Pough!", or
authentic to the city of Poughkeepsie. The 250
guests that attended enjoyed a youth art
exhibit, red carpet and a fun-filled afternoon of
poetry, dance, and music from local artist
including Dutchess County Poet Laureate Gold
.Wilkerson, the Marist College Gospel Choir
and hip-hop artist Jig Nice. One of the
activities included members of the community
working together to create a mural of former
First Lady Michelle Obama.

Blueprint specializes in creating customized
education and training programs. For the
students at Poughkeepsie High School's Career
Action Center, we created an interactive
workshop to train students in how to navigate
a networking event. The students and teachers
indulged in a mac and cheese bar and
beverages after participating in the event.

Beats, Rhymes and Christ, an event for local
college students, was co-hosted by Smith
Metropolitan AME Zion Church. The event
featured Caribbean street food, Christian hip-
hop music, Mime and a media presentation.

Blueprint Consulting worked with gospel
recording artist Edwrin Sutton on the
production of the live recording of music for
his first album. The concert was co-sponsored
by Blacksmoke Music Worldwide and
produced by Stellar Award winner Demetrius
West. It was held at Beulah Baptist church in
Poughkeepsie, NY.
