Expand the availability of high quality Preschool
Programs and Digital Early Literacy to improve the
academic outcomes of under-performing schools and
close the achievement gap before students enter school.
Expand Career Technical Education (CTE)
pathways for high school students.
Incorporate career readiness standards into the
new academic assessment program.
Develop one seamless accountability system for
local, state, and federal accountability needs.
Professional Development
Provide an articulated course of study for
individuals working with children from birth to grade 3
via two and four-year colleges.
Provide additional funding support for
implementation of the Common Core State Standards.
Provide funding support for alignment of
preschool foundations through Kindergarten
Common Core State Standards and related staff
development.
School Finance and Budget
Increase the funding to quality after school
programs that provide essential expanded learning
opportunities to children and their families.
Fully fund Local Planning Councils for Childcare
and Development Programs.
Allow for regional adjustments to the income
eligibility guidelines for state preschool to account
for variations in the cost of living.
Reinstate funding for centralized eligibility lists to
allow counties to coordinate enrollment for state funded
childcare, public and private preschool, and family
childcare providers.
Support the Governor’s proposal to provide
ongoing funding for County Offices to provide
differentiated assistance to school districts.
Provide ongoing Career Technical Education
funding for K-12.
Provide full funding for all state mandates.
