Restored and improved a hunting and cattle trail, the Haiwee Trail, to improve user access and
ensure cattle/horse safety along the trail.
Removed 57 burned and dead trees from the trail and created multiple switchbacks to reduce the
grade of the trail and to reduce soil erosion.
Restored an irrigation ditch in disrepair to irrigate the newly created riparian ecosystem to
encourage threatened western cuckoo breeding on Southern Sierra Research Station land.
Cleared over two hectares of dead forest to ensure space for more riparian ecosystem restoration
for additional tri-colored blackbird, western yellow-billed cuckoo, and the southwestern willow
flycatcher habitat
