This document discusses the origin and nature of sin. It explains that sin originated with Lucifer when he became prideful and discontent in heaven. Lucifer sinned by doubting God's character and authority. Adam and Eve were the first humans to sin when they disobeyed God's command not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eve was deceived by the serpent into thinking the fruit was desirable. Adam sinned by following Eve after she persuaded him to eat the fruit also. The document explores what constitutes sin and emphasizes that the Bible defines sin as the transgression of God's law.

17. Why Do People Refuse to Believe in God? Notes (A4)William Anderson
This is the 18th teaching in our series “Growing Deep in the Gospel” and is the second one dealing with defending the gospel. In this study we answered the question “Why Do People Refuse to Believe in God?”. To start we looked at Bible verses that showed us why people should believe in God and why people don’t. Then we looked at quotes from two books that showed us why people don’t believe from different perspectives and we finished by looking how we could help people to find God.

The case is made that Satan doesn't exist as a personal, cosmic being; rather does the word simply mean an adversary, and is sometimes used about ordinary people, and at times is used as a personification of sin.

Why do you think James tells us to confess our sins to each other and pray for each other immediately following a discussion about healing? (5:14-15) Why is confession of sins a part of the healing process? (1 John 1:9) What should be our attitude and response toward those who confess their failure and sin to us? (Galatians 6:1) Have you ever had a relationship with a person or with a small group that involved confession of sins and personal offenses? If so, what was that like? What are some of the barriers that keep us from having that kind of a relationship? What are some cautions about confessing our trespasses to one another?
This is a study of Jesus being forgiving on the cross, No one was worthy of such forgiveness, but Jesus urged the Father to forgive them because they were ignorant and did not know what they were doing.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Definition (noun)
a) An exact statement or description of the nature, scope,
or meaning of something:
32. “Those who have allowed their
minds to become beclouded in
regard to what constitutes sin are
fearfully deceived. Unless they
make a decided change they will be
found wanting when God
pronounces judgment upon the
children of men. They have
transgressed the law and broken the
everlasting covenant, and they will
receive according to their works.”

33. Is there any other
definition of sin
given in scripture?
34. Our only definition of sin is that
given in the word of God; it is "the
transgression of the law;" {The
Great Controversy Chap 29 Origin of
Evil pg 493 }
There are many ideas in the world as
to what is sin… But what does the
word of God define it to be? John
writes, "Whosoever committeth sin
transgresseth also the law; for sin is
the transgression of the law."
Without the law we have no
knowledge of what sin is….. God's
law not only covers every deed of
outward life, but also penetrates to
the intents and purposes of the
heart. {Bible Echo, November 5,
1894 par. 3}
35. The law is the great standard of
righteousness. It represents the
character of God, and is the test
of our loyalty to his
government. And it is revealed
to us, in all its beauty and
excellence, in the life of Christ.
The law is the detector of sin.
….. The law points out sin, and
condemns it, and sends the
sinner to Christ for pardon and
cleansing. "The law is holy, and
the commandment holy, and
just, and good." {Special
Testimonies on Education
(1897) Chap 12 pg 73.3

36. You need not talk about
getting along without any
law, and yet know what
sin is. The only definition
of sin given in the Bible
is: "Sin is the
transgression of the law"
(1 John 3:4). {Manuscript

37. “A terrible doom awaits the sinner,
and therefore it is necessary that we
know what sin is, in order that we
may escape from its power. John says,
Whosoever committeth sin
transgresseth also the law; for sin is
the transgression of the law.‟ 1 John
3:4. Here we have the true definition
of sin; it is the transgression of the
law.‟ How often the sinner is urged to
leave his sins, and come to Jesus; but
has the messenger who would lead
him to Christ clearly pointed out the
way? Has he clearly pointed out the
fact that „sin is the transgression of
the law,‟ and that he must repent, and
forsake the breaking of God's
commandments?

and when is sin
manifested in a

41. THE STEPS BEFORE SIN EXIST IN THE
HEART
1a) Own lust: A natural instinct affected by sin that is perceived to
bring pleasure, delight or satisfaction through the 5 senses and
thoughts, as a result of the genetic make up we inherit or cultivate.
Also known as Fallen nature or Sinful habits
Instinct: Inherited impulse, which response to environmental
stimulation
1b) Enticed: A desire or attraction to the perceived pleasure, delight
or satisfaction brought on by deception or negative influence.
Enticed is a synonym for Beguiled as to deception, as Eve was
beguiled. Genesis 3:13. Desire: To long or hope for something
2) Temptation: The feeling or emotion to act in accordance with any
instinct or desire which is contrary to the will of God. The risk or
possibility of sinning
42. THE STEPS BEFORE SIN EXIST IN THE
HEART
3) Lust conceived: Allowing sin affected instinct or desire to become
your intent, when the will has decided to act. Desire or instinct
cherished or tolerated.
Intent: What I purpose to do in expression of my free will.
Conception will naturally bring fruit.
4) Sin: The fulfilment of a sinful intent, an expression of the will,
against the law of God whether in thought, word or action
5) Eternal Death (Penalty of sin)
46. THE MYSTERY OF SIN
Before the entrance of evil there was peace and joy throughout
the universe. All was in perfect harmony with the Creator's will.
Love for God was supreme, love for one another impartial…..
The law of love is the foundation of the government of God,
the happiness of all created beings depended upon their perfect
accord with its great principles of righteousness. God desires
from all His creatures the service of love….. He takes no
pleasure in a forced allegiance, and to all He grants freedom of
will, that they may render Him voluntary service. But there was
one that chose to pervert this freedom. Sin originated with him.
The Great Controversy Chapter 29: The Origin of Evil p.g
493, 494
47. Ezekiel 28:15
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the
day that thou wast created, till iniquity was
found in thee.
48. HOW DID LUCIFER SIN?
The spirit of discontent and disaffection
had never before been known in heaven.
It was a new element, strange,
mysterious, unaccountable. Lucifer
himself had not at first been acquainted
with the real nature of his feelings; for a
time he had feared to express the
workings and imaginings of his mind;
yet he did not dismiss them. He did not
see whither he was drifting. But such
efforts as infinite love and wisdom only
could devise, were made to convince
him of his error.
His disaffection was proved to be
without cause, and he was made to see
what would be the result of persisting in
revolt…. {Patriarchs and Prophets Chap
1 Why was sin Permitted 39.1}
49. Lucifer was convinced that he was in
the wrong. He saw that "the Lord is
righteous in all His ways, and holy in
all His works" …….. The time had
come for a final decision; he must
fully yield to the divine sovereignty or
place himself in open rebellion. He
nearly reached the decision to return,
but pride forbade him. It was too
great a sacrifice for one who had been
so highly honored to confess that he
had been in error, that his imaginings
were false, and to yield to the
authority which he had been working
to prove unjust.
{Patriarchs and Prophets Chap 1 Why
was sin Permitted 39.1}
52. HOW DID EVE SIN?
He [The Serpent] assured her that
the fruit of this tree was desirable
above every other tree in the garden
to make one wise and exalt them
equal with God. He has, said the
serpent, refused you the fruit of the
tree which is of all the trees the
most desirable for its delicious
flavor and exhilarating influence.
Eve thought the discourse of the
serpent very wise. She viewed the
prohibition of God unjust. She
looked with longing desire upon
the tree laden with fruit which
appeared very delicious……. She
longed for this fruit above all the
fruit of every variety which God
had given her a perfect right to use.
{RH, February 24, 1874 par. 13}
53. HOW DID ADAM SIN?
Eve, after her transgression,
prevailed upon her husband to eat
also. Adam was not deceived as
was Eve, but he was influenced
by her to do as she had done—eat
and risk the consequences since
no harm, she said, had come to
her. Adam yielded to the
temptations of his wife. He could
not endure to be separated from
her. He ate and fell from his
integrity. {Christ Triumphant
111.3)
54. HOW WERE ADAM AND EVE
TEMPTED?
The angels charged them to
closely follow the instructions
God had given them in reference
to the tree of knowledge, for in
perfect obedience they were safe,
and this fallen foe could then
have no power to deceive them.
God would not permit Satan to
follow the holy pair with
continual temptations. He could
have access to them only at the
tree of knowledge of good and
evil. {Lift Him Up pg 20.7}
{Story of Redemption 31.1}
{Signs of the Time January 16,
1879 par. 21
55. HOW ARE WE
TEMPTED?
The devil now has free access to
tempt fallen mankind where ever
and when ever he pleases through
our mind. (Our senses)
HOW WERE ADAM AND EVE
TEMPTED?
The devil only had access to
tempt Adam and Eve at the tree
knowledge of good and evil.
ADAM AND EVE WERE NOT TEMPTED AS WE ARE
56. HOW WERE ADAM AND EVE LEAD INTO
SIN?
1b)Enticed: A desire or attraction to the perceived pleasure,
delight or satisfaction brought on by deception or negative
influence.
2) Temptation: The feeling or emotion to act in accordance with
an instinct or desire which is contrary to the will of God. The
risk or possibility of sinning
3) Lust conceived: Allowing sin affected instinct or desire to
become your intent, when the has decided to act.
Desire or instinct cherished or tolerated.
4) Sin: The fulfilment of a sinful intent, an expression of the will,
against the law of God whether in thought, word or action
57. SUMMARY OF HOW ADAM AND
EVE SINNED?
Adam and Eve did not have fallen
natures as we do.
They were not drawn away by lust
because they had no lust. No
inherited effects of sin
Eve was enticed (beguiled or
deceived) by the serpent to believe
that the fruit was something to be
desired, a synonym for beguiled is
enticed or to deceive.
Adam was also enticed (influenced
negatively) by Eve and sinned
