- 17th of May We celebrate the constitution. School children walk in the parade with their classmates, and later in the day with their teams, for example their football team. Family and friends watch the parade. Every town has their own parade. We dress up in bunads, uniforms, suits or dresses. There are fun activities for the children at the nearby primary school. Everyone eats hot dogs, ice cream, soda and candy. It's the childrens’ day.
- The cross in the flag represents the fact that Norway is a christian country. It's a symbol we use to celebrate birthdays, matches and important days. Since the Norwegian flag was illegal during ww2, it became an important symbol of freedom. Children bring the flag in the parade at 17th of May. Many families have a flag pole in the garden.

- The national costume. Your bunad is often from the place your parents or grandparents are from, or from where you live. It is handmade and decorated with embrodery, pearls and silver jewelry. They are inspired by the clothing people on the countryside used a couple of hundred years ago. It costs between 2000 and 7000 euros, depending on which one you choose. 60-70% of the women in Norway have their own bunad. More and more men get a bunad.
- Norway is a monarchy, not a republic, Represented by King Harald and Queen Sonja. Their son is called Harald Magnus. He is married to Mette Marit. She has a son from a previous relationship. Queen Sonja was the first Norwegian queen that wasn't born into royalty. Our royal family makes us feel like one country in sports events and when serious accidents happens. For example here are the Olympicts and the 22th of July 2011, when 76 young people died in a terrorist attack. In school, we flag on King Harald's birthday.
- On the paper money, you find pictures of important Norwegians. 50 kr: Peter Christen Asbjørnsen - collected Norwegian folk tales. 100 kr: Kristin Flagstad - opera singer. 200 kr: Kristian Birkeland - founder of a big Norwegian company, Norsk Hydro. 500 kr: Sigrid Undset - famous Norwegian female writer. 1000 kr: Edvard Munch - painter. -painted"Scream". On the coins, you can see the profile of our king, King Harald.
- Edvard Munch: Born in 1836 Paintings like"Scream" and"Madonna" are his most famous paintings. One of the two painters from Norway that is world-known. In school we try to paint "Skrik" Every teenager and adult in Norway know these paintings. Tideman and Gude are two painters who painted this well known painting, at least for Norwegians, called «the voyage of the newly wed couple in the fjord called Hardanger»
- Henrik Ibsen: Author of the play "Doll's house": The theme is about a woman in the 19th century who abandoned her husband and her children. This was quite shocking at the time. She left her family because she wanted to find herself. Norwegian students study this text in lower secondary school. Edward Grieg: A famous Norwegian composer. He is known for "I Dovregubbens hall," "Morningstemning" and "Solveigs Sang".
