Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel) is a non-profit organization that facilitates partnerships between communities and low-income individuals to help them gain independence. The organization is bringing a new program called SHARE to Missouri to connect job seekers with resources and training opportunities. SHARE will create an online referral system and marketing campaign to increase access to job centers. This will help unemployed individuals find good jobs, training, mentoring and other support services. Special projects director Wayne Zimmer encouraged bringing the program to Missouri, which will benefit job seekers and service providers across the state.

Lutz Project 17 Internship Reflections
Four Kansas state senators initiated Project 17 in 2011 to address chronic poverty, unemployment, poor health, and lack of internet in 17 southeast Kansas counties. The Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) was engaged to support Project 17 as it launched with a coalition of 21 leaders. Project 17 is a grassroots, network-based platform that tackles complex social problems and seeds large-scale change through experiments. As Project 17's Executive Director Administrative Intern, Mackenzie Lutz provided over 525 hours of administrative support, including coordinating communications, social media, and a regional innovation conference. The executive director noted that Lutz's insights and professionalism were greatly appreciated for her work on the large-scale, socially complex Project 17.

Collaborative behaviours in e participation
This document discusses collaborative behaviors in e-participation. It notes that social networking fulfills natural human social needs and has progressed from simply sharing information to building social relationships. Effective governance of participation requires establishing guidelines for behavior and considering how discussion forums are designed. Hyperlinks express social relationships and have shifted human conversation online, with highly engaged communities producing work through collective efforts, while crowds contribute discrete anonymous inputs. Opportunities of e-participation include more effective governance, while risks include low participation, an overload of useless information, and manipulation. Tensions exist between consumption and contribution of opinions and between traditional hierarchies and virtual environments.

Networking in the workplace finished
This document discusses networking and how it relates to gender differences in the workplace. It notes that stereotypes persist where women are perceived less favorably than men in evaluations and promotions. Women also tend to be pushed toward more stereotypically feminine tasks. The pay gap is discussed, with women in 2008 earning on average 79.9% of what men earn. Barriers for women in networking include the "motherhood assumption" where women are seen as less willing to travel. Overall the document examines networking challenges women face in the workplace.

Fairfax County has over 1 million residents with over 50,000 living in poverty and 1,549 homeless. Rent is high while vacancy rates are low, presenting challenges to housing the homeless. The county developed a 10-year plan to end homelessness and created over 2,650 new affordable housing opportunities. The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program provided direct financial assistance and case management. Staff analyzed time spent on housing search/placement and saw little dedicated to these activities. The strategy created an online forum and training to build a collaborative community to better help families find housing.
The E-Politics Conversation
1. E-government has the potential to increase citizen input, openness, and efficiency but has not fully realized this potential and its relationship with citizens remains conventional.
2. Political organizations could benefit from an e-strategy like e-businesses use to add value for customers, but face roadblocks like lack of leadership and threats to established power.
3. The 2008 elections saw the DNC embrace online strategies more fully than the RNC, as seen in Barack Obama's campaign that harnessed over 3 million online donors, but both parties now recognize the importance of social media.

This document is a proposal from a group called the Corporate Pirates for a technology solution to help a local nonprofit with 500 members keep in contact and engage members through collecting member dues and information, updating them on events, and allowing them to manage their information through a mobile app and webpage. The proposed solution includes a centralized database, mobile app for paying dues and viewing events, and a webpage for changing personal information and viewing news.

Pencils of Promise supports 350 schools around the world but maintaining relationships with donors and keeping accurate data across locations is challenging. Ben Bromberg, the backend database manager at Pencils of Promise, discussed how Cirrus Insight has helped by allowing them to instantly add contacts and mark relationships from their email directly into Salesforce. This helps the development team better manage communications and personalize their approach for each donor. Syncing calendars and tracking emails also provides benefits across the organization by integrating communications and improving overall data integrity.

The Northeast Region has been heavily involved in the SHARE Network Project since the beginning. These efforts are lead by key staff throughout the Region. Training and outreach has been and continues to be provided throughout the region to promote the use of the online Resource Directory and the development of SHARE Network Access Points (SNAPs). The region is using these SNAPs to provide Missouri Career Center services and access to other resources in all areas of our 16 county Region.

The Tabor 100 annual gala is coming up in six months and preparations are underway. Pearl Leung is the gala committee chair. The objective of the gala is to raise money for college scholarships and connect members to opportunities by networking with community and business leaders. The president wants to make the gala more beneficial for members by incorporating their feedback and having more members in attendance connecting with sponsors and decision-makers. Members are encouraged to volunteer for the gala committee and complete a survey to help improve the event.

With community involvement decreasing, a campaign called "No Place Like Home" is being proposed to improve unity and security in Stockton. The campaign would create social media accounts and fundraising portals for each of Stockton's 6 districts. An online fundraising platform called Push K Giving would allow donors to contribute and track donations. The campaign aims to inspire community participation to address local challenges and would later expand into a larger "True Impact-Sister Cities of Hope" initiative.

Erica Sager-Pelman, Staff Assistant DOL / ETA” Erica Sager-Pelman meets tomorrow, April 28th, with MO state officials to finalize and sign agreements with the Dept. of Labor to establish the SHARE Network in Missouri. What is SHARE and what does it mean for MO? SHARE is a national, faith-based generated, DOL / ETA program, that meets the challenge of creating equal access and communicating the availability of that access through a two-part solution: (1) the development of a web-based referral system, and (2) an outreach and marketing effort that seeks to educate citizens and expand the Job Service Centers. Piloted in North Dakota in 2002 through funding under Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, SHARE is now being initiated in MO through the efforts and encouragement at the federal Dept. of Labor level, noted above, of Project HOPE and our special projects director, Wayne Zimmer. This means people looking for a good job with benefits, access to the training necessary to accomplish this, long-term mentoring support from program like Project HOPE, and other support for people struggling to find and maintain employment will have more opportunities to learn that the resources are actually available and where to access them. In addition internet access of workers and the unemployed to these resources with be provided at a much higher level than currently available and referrals between the Workforce Investment Board One-Stop Career Centers and service support providers, such as Project HOPE, will be more swift and efficiently handled over the internet. SHARE will benefit all service support providers linked to the WIB One-Stop and everyone looking for good employment and the means to achieve a living wage or beyond for themselves!
