AT&T Presents COMPASS with $15,000 Donation
State Senator Joe Schiavoni to attend
Youngstown, OH, November 17, 2016: AT&T will make a $15,000 contribution to COMPASS Family & Community
Services in support of the COMPASS’ Workforce Development Work Readiness Training Workshops. The contribution
will be presented tomorrow at 2pm and is possible through the generosity of the AT&T Inc. Fund and the Cleveland
Foundation. Ohio State Senator Joe Schiavoni will join AT&T and COMPASS leaders for the presentation of the
contribution that will help serve 48 individuals in the Mahoning Valley who struggle with obtaining, keeping, and
advancing in jobs. COMPASS will provide individuals recruited for this project with work readiness training, job
placement, retention, and advancement services.
“COMPASS is a well-recognized and respected community service agency that provides comprehensive, easily accessible,
and timely services. Thank you to AT&T for supporting this organization in the Mahoning Valley” said State Senator Joe
Schiavoni.
COMPASS’ Workforce Development Program provides work readiness training that focuses on the workplace skills
identified by employers as needed for new hires. The training places an emphasis on the skills of personal effectiveness,
team building, career goal planning, math and reading remediation, as well as interview skills and resume writing.
Throughout the training and until successfully placed, each participant will receive one-on-one career coaching, tutoring
as needed, supportive services, and transportation assistance. These wrap around services provide the needed
resources for unemployed individuals so that they can overcome obstacles that stand between them and their personal
success.
“We know that our communities are most successful when everyone has an opportunity to thrive,” said Steve Kristan,
director of external affairs at AT&T. “That’s why AT&T is happy to collaborate with COMPASS Family & Community
Services ensuring that all individuals are able to secure employment and financial stability.”
COMPASS agrees. Upon completion of the training, each participant receives job planning and placement assistance
until they obtain employment. “The ultimate goal is to help our clients reach financial stability and continue to
strengthen our Valley” said Joe Caruso, President & CEO of COMPASS.
