There are different types of narrative structures that can be used in documentaries, including open or closed narratives that do or do not leave unanswered questions, single-strand or multi-strand narratives that follow one or multiple storylines, linear or non-linear narratives that do or do not follow chronological order, and circular narratives where the beginning and end are the same.
