2. As a rule, the conventional narrative incorporates 5 primary stages, of which can
be initially broken down into 3 phases:
1. Beginning (State of Equilibrium)
2. Disruption
3. Middle (State of Disequilibrium)
4. Resolution
5. End (State of New Equilibrium)
TVETAN TODOROV -
3. 1. When was the beginning state of equilibrium?
It is this shot when the audience are introduced to the
normality of Abbies life, where everything is calm and there
are no disruptions.
2. Disruption
It is at this point where Abbie admits her feelings for Jenifer.
Although the audience are not aware of this, Jenifer finds out
about her love, thus causing a disruption to both of their
everyday lives.
3. Middle (State of Disequilibrium)
It is at this point where the height of the film has
happened, (could be considered as the climax) where
Abbie and Jenifer have argued and the plot has been
twisted. Causing a sense of pathos within the audience.
4. 4. When was the Resolution and End (State of New
equilibrium)?
The audience are left with the shot with both Jenifer and
Abbie together in one scene However, this ambiguous
scene leaves the audience with questions, therefore a
want to watch the film. The shot with Jenifer walking by
herself whilst ambiguous, acts as an ending to the film.
Tyler and I wanted this to be a symbol of Jenifer ‘finding
herself’ alone, after her situation with Abbie. This isn't
explicitly giving away the ending of our plot, however is
still signifying the moral message that is portrayed at the
end of the film.
